What you\'ll be doing:

As a Senior Research Manager you will lead a cross functional team of engineers and scientists within the Research and Development organization that is focused on value improvement projects. The position requires a leader with a diverse R&D background, specifically with experience working with functions such as Sterility Assurance, Stability, Materials Science and Extractables and Leachables. You will also represent the business during workshops focused on defining opportunities for product and process enhancements.

  • Based on significant and diverse technical expertise, review and approve complex design concepts to meet regional requirements, providing general direction to technical staff.
  • Reviewing and approving detailed testing protocols, reports and regulatory dossiers from technical disciplines such as Sterility Assurance, Stability, Materials Science and Extractables and Leachables.
  • Managing relationships with multiple internal and external laboratories.
  • Defining and communicating criteria by which the team and individual success will be measured. Providing constructive feedback and recognition. Successfully coaching and motivating others for outstanding performance.
  • Developing effective project milestones, schedules and budgets, including capital. Identifying and resolving issues that may jeopardize project schedules or improve project timelines.
  • Seeking regular input and feedback from customers and taking appropriate action.
  • Proactively prioritizing and balancing utilization of resources allocated to projects; identifying opportunities to cross-train, back-fill.
  • Utilizing solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of disciplines to manage complex projects or programs within boundaries of quality, time and budget.
  • Understanding and effectively communicating to team members about the market niche, competitive forces influencing the project, and how the project fits into the function\'s strategic focus/plan. Ensuring that team objectives align with key corporate strategic programs.
  • Influencing internally and externally and interacting with regulatory agencies as required.
  • Creating an environment for fostering innovation and process enhancements.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of scientific literature and regulatory feedback to anticipate and evolve testing strategies.
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline with 13+ years, masters with 10 + years or PhD with 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience in R&D for pharmaceutical packaging, medical device and/or combination products.
  • Previous experience with leading cross functional R&D teams.
  • Driven to deliver project milestones on time.
  • Detailed and disciplined in planning and execution.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, independently and through others.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and team communication skills. Able to engage varied audiences.
  • Comfort with engaging with regulatory authorities and external industry leaders.
  • Experienced in regulated laboratory operations having an in-depth knowledge and understanding of GxP and related regulations and guidance and is able to provide expert insights into such regulations so as to facilitate efficient product registration and/or is an active participant in the generation, review, adoption and interpretation of such regulations.
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $112,000 to $216,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
