Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally. We are currently seeking a skilled Human Resources Assistant. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position. This position reports to the Human Resources Coordinator. This position will be responsible for assisting with the daily functions of the Human Resources department and will involve a wide range of support activities inside the department. These duties will include maintaining our employee database, posting job ads, and the administrative tasks associated with these activities. This position will also assist with the onboarding and offboarding of employees as well as employee engagement and enforcing company policies and practices. Ultimately, you\'ll ensure our HR department is organized and operates smoothly to attract, hire, and retain our employees. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources team.
  • Update and maintain the personnel files including new hire paperwork, personnel change status, etc.
  • Process documentation relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, performance evaluations, etc.)
  • Coordinate communication with candidates and schedule interviews, drug screenings and background checks.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Conduct initial orientation to newly hired employees.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems as well as ATS software.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required, with a degree in Human Resources or related field being preferred.
  • Previous experience in human resource roles is preferred.
Working Conditions This position will be mostly in a climate-controlled office setting but will from time to time will have the need to be in the warehouse and manufacturing areas. There may also be some travel to conferences, recruiting venues, and career fairs. Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization\'s facilities.
