We focus on the areas of Agricultural Development; Financial Services for the Poor; Global Education; Nutrition; and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. We seek solutions that are sustainable, ground-breaking, and inclusive with an eye towards applying technology innovations as well as data evidence to make a difference in the world\xe2\x80\x99s developing countries.
We invest in nutrition to reduce preventable deaths and improve maternal and child health. Nutrition is the key to ensuring that individuals not only survive, but that they can truly thrive with optimal physical growth and cognitive development. Our strategy focuses on Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF). Food fortification\xe2\x80\x94adding essential vitamins and minerals to everyday food staples such as salt, flour, and cooking oil\xe2\x80\x94is one of the most scalable, sustainable, and cost-effective tools to reduce micronutrient deficiencies worldwide. We will invest in impactful solutions to produce practical data; deliver high-quality technical assistance to millers and food producers; advance new innovations in micronutrients and food vehicles; digitize quality assurance data in mills to empower industry self-monitoring; and strengthen public sector standards and regulations for LSFF programs. We collaborate with partners across public and private sectors, to support attainment of SDG 2 \xe2\x80\x93 a global commitment to tackle malnutrition and hunger. Internally, we collaborate across foundation teams including Agricultural Development; Maternal, Newborn & Child Health; and Maternal, Newborn & Child Health Discovery & Tools, to broaden our collective learning and impact. The Deputy Director (DD) is responsible for leading strategy execution, strategic grantee management, and partnerships of our upstream initiatives, focused on LSFF R&D and data. This includes identifying and building a portfolio of high-impact, high-priority, innovative R&D investments, looking at micronutrient innovation, and food-fortification \xe2\x80\x98vehicle\xe2\x80\x99 (food type) innovation. Additionally, you will lead our data initiative which charts a new course for measuring micronutrient deficiencies, bringing together primary data, along with new AI, Machine Learning (ML), and IoT tools and capabilities to improve transparency and data utilization, thereby guiding partners and policy makers globally and at a country level. We place a strong emphasis on the actionability of data and R&D innovation, seeking to create a seamless interface with our strategic delivery portfolio. What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do
