Description

The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Deputy Director to provide positive leadership and oversight within our Eligibility Operations for Economic Assistance and Medicaid programs.

Economic Assistance operations include leading ACCESSNebraska Customer Service Centers and ANDI Centers.

Hiring rate: The hiring rate is commensurate with education and experience.

Location: 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln, Nebraska 68509

Schedule: M-F 8-5

Examples of Work

Duties will include:

  • Responsible for giving clear direction to teams across Nebraska determining eligibility for multiple economic assistance programs;
  • Build partnerships with internal and external customers;
  • Oversee contracts and ensure eligibility operations are in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining and evaluating status of operational budget.
  • Serve DHHS customers by planning and implementing all ACCESSNebraska strategies and operations including improving systems and processes and managing staff; monitor and enhance Customer Service Center system performance; implement and refine customer interaction and interactive voice response systems.
  • Collaborate with DHHS Human Resources and division leadership to determine proper staffing and scheduling, recruit, train, assign, coach, and counsel staff.
  • Prepare Customer Service Center performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor\'s degree with 10+ years in progressively responsible leadership roles; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Customer Service Center operations, principles and metrics.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and resolving customer service and client issues.
PREFERRED:
  • Master\'s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Progressively responsible experience in an administrative/leadership capacity with responsibility for budget, program analysis/evaluation, large project administration, policy development.
  • Experience with lean process improvement or Six Sigma certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the Department and with staff at remote locations. Strong problem solving/analysis and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. Management, business acumen, ethical conduct, leadership, performance management, personal effectiveness/credibility, strategic thinking, and technical capacity.
