Job Description


External Communications

  • Promote the FT\'s reputation as a source of outstanding global journalism, extending its reach and the impact of its journalism by securing powerful and strategic media coverage for FT journalists and their work.
  • Secure positive and impactful media coverage for corporate and commercial stakeholders, positioning the FT as a leader in digital subscriptions; a trusted, data-led innovator in advertising; and the home for a range of customer-focused business and intelligence services.
  • Write and distribute FT news and announcements, social media posts and other PR materials.
  • Build relationships with key media influencers and reporters to maximise corporate announcements and advocacy around FT brands, products and campaigns.
  • Support the FT\'s editorial and commercial awards programme in the US by highlighting suitable opportunities, quality-checking entries and promoting wins for other teams.
  • Enhance the FT\'s reputation as a responsible business and employer through external communications around our sustainability commitments; diversity and inclusion efforts; and financial literacy and inclusion campaign.
Press Office
  • Serve as the main press office contact in the US, handling incoming media requests and working with colleagues across time zones for 24h cover.
  • Provide counsel and support for senior management and journalists, including the coordination of media training and the writing of holding statements, Q&As, position papers and briefings. Advise on external communications needs and best practices.
  • Report on results and successes, and contribute to/edit a monthly communications report.
  • Identify/try new and emerging communications tools, services and software to make communications processes work more effectively.
Internal and Employee Communications
  • Ensure the US is connected to global strategy through staff updates, town halls and internal talks and create materials to support these activities.
  • Support the leadership team with internal announcements as needed.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000. To ensure pay fairness, the successful candidate will be offered a salary within the estimated salary range based on a number of considerations including but not limited to: skill set; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organisational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for our NYC office and has not been adjusted for other locations.
