About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY
The Business Analyst is responsible for a wide range of activities that require competencies in the analytical, project leadership, quantitative, communication, strategic planning, university administration expertise and task completion areas. Duties typically include collecting and analyzing information from system users to formulate the scope and objectives of the system; preparing flow charts, models, and procedures and conducting feasibility studies to design possible system solutions. The Business Analyst may also estimate the costs of system solutions, prepare and maintain technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate to audiences at all levels of the organization, translating for both technical and non-technical audiences. Produce and deliver succinct, compelling PowerPoint presentations. Proven project management and/or business analysis capabilities, including writing business cases, business requirements, use cases, and test plans, defining acceptance criteria, developing project plans, and estimating work effort. Excellent negotiation, analysis, problem-solving, decision-making and time management skills. Ability to interact with customers in a sensitive and diplomatic manner, maintaining positive relationships and building consensus on project goals. Knowledge and skills are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor\'s Degree in a business or technology discipline and two to five years\' experience in a business analysis role. Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree preferred. Knowledge of a higher educational environment is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Functional Customer Service, Business Case/Requirements Development


  • Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders, be they customers or end users.

  • Collaborates with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.

  • Conducts interviews to gather customer requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.

  • Identifies and establishes scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.

  • Translates conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/stakeholders/project team.

  • Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements.

  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.

  • Assists in conducting research on projects to meet agreed upon requirements. Participate in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized.

  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Communicates changes and modifications of business requirements both verbally and through written documentation to sponsors, project managers, and other stakeholders.



2) Standards and Process Development

  • Research, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.

  • Develops and utilizes standard templates to write requirements specifications accurately and concisely.

  • Creates process models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to customers, developers, and/or the project team.
