  • You will work with your team to build inclusive, anti-racist, modern, flexible, and transparent systems that serve students, ensuring access, and assisting students in achieving courses, program, and degree outcomes from recruitment to transition.
  • You will lead efforts to advance equitable student success, including closing equity gaps, particularly regarding race and ethnicity.
  • Throughout your work you will demonstrate cultural humility and intercultural engagement, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity.
  • You will engage in shared governance, including district-wide efforts to build an antiracist institution focused on action to advance access, retention, and success for our most marginalized and vulnerable students and demonstrates a commitment to diversity, social equity, inclusion, cultural, and anti-racist competence in both values and actions.
  • Serve as an inclusive and collaborative leader who seeks and values input from others, takes decisive action when needed, and offers transparency about the rationale for important decisions. Participates proactively in conflict resolution.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of equity-minded retention and completion efforts, including State and legislative requirements, in collaboration with the Office of Guided Pathways, and in partnership with the Institutional Effectiveness office using measurable standards of effectiveness through research, outcomes assessment, accreditation, institutional planning, strategic initiatives, and grants-seeking.
  • Demonstrates and fosters a deep understanding of and appreciation for teaching, learning, and academic excellence.
  • Leads development, delivery, and assessment of a comprehensive array of instructional programs and services to fulfill the institution\xe2\x80\x99s mission across multiple campus and district locations.
  • In partnership with the budget and finance staff, oversees the development of instructional budgeting for the college, including prioritization of instructional funding to align with the college\xe2\x80\x99s mission and academic master plan.
  • Serves as accreditation liaison officer to ensure the college fulfills institutional eligibility requirements, as well as accreditation standards pertaining to instruction.
  • Promotes professional development and exceptional performance for all employees, oversees faculty tenure process, and more broadly assures quality of instruction (including building, maintaining and documenting relevant curriculum and academic policies through the Curriculum Coordinating Council).
  • Represents and advocates for the instructional programs of the college and the district with the statewide system of community and technical colleges, and with constituents in public and private sectors locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Cultivates and nurtures positive relationships with external groups, including the Foundation, community partners, technical advisory committees, and other educational organizations.
  • Contributes to positive labor relations with faculty, classified, and professional bargaining units.

Physical Requirements: The position
  • Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
