SUMMARY: Bud & Mary\xe2\x80\x99s VP of Finance\xe2\x80\x99s focus for the company is to add value to the Accounting and Finance processes by coordinating various aspects of finance related functions. Work with other senior level managers and executives on strategic initiatives within the company. Assist in acquisitions & mergers along with future planning on the growth of our multi-state business. The position has the responsibility of ensuring the company\xe2\x80\x99s financials and analysis are accurate and timely and Bud & Mary\xe2\x80\x99s assets are protected at all times. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate/bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in finance or accounting with 10+ years of experience or masters/CPA with 8+ years of experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Issue monthly financials with analysis to help employees at all levels understand the business and impact of decisions.
  • Ensure AR, AP & banking are current and in compliance with internal control guidelines.
  • Costing on all products including analysis on gross margin and sales and production strategies.
  • Prepare & coordinate annual budget, audit, and tax returns with external preparers, building strong relationships with external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with all state requirements, including income and sales/use filings.
  • Proforma analysis on new products, markets, and market implications and offer insights and suggestions.
  • Work on acquisitions as needed for due diligence, tax risk minimization, and compliance.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with accounting manual.
  • Provide state-of-art finance and analytical services using advanced techniques and technologies.
  • Proactively work in concert with senior leaders and other business units to provide relevant information to allow maximum impact and internal return.
  • Proactively perform complex analysis to support planning, proposed and actual transactions.
  • Assist with correspondence from taxing authorities regarding, assessments, tax notices, audits requests, and other related issues.
  • Assess and implement new technologies to streamline processes and grow Bud & Mary\xe2\x80\x99s profitability.
  • Research, write, and present technical issues throughout the year.
  • Proactively present tax issues with solution alternatives.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to provide research on financial accounting (e.g., financial accounting standards, emerging issues, and new business development).
  • Work with other departments within Bud & Mary\xe2\x80\x99s and external contacts such as banking personnel, tax preparers, and auditors.
  • Implement financial process improvements.
  • Comply with all company policies, including confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • A high energy business strategist with a commercialization focus who can provide leadership, set priorities and meet timetables leading to the attainment of goals.
  • An in-depth understanding of accounting (including GAAP), finance and information services.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • An ability to see the big-picture and how tax and finance can impact the overall growth of the business.
  • Experience as a project team player, leader and motivator; and the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with all levels of management within a team environment on a variety of programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including forecasting skills, project planning and the development of project timelines.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • An understanding of, and experience with, process improvement to effect increased efficiencies in all aspects of the business for both tax and company infrastructures.
  • Experience in dealing with challenging problems, developing strategies, prioritizing and implementing appropriate programs.
  • A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and a distinct sense of urgency.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The Finance Director is office-based at the Bud & Mary\xe2\x80\x99s Cannabis headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. The position is considered to be 40 hours per week but requires tremendous flexibility and may require the employee to accomplish additional work at home or telecommute. TRAVEL:
  • Travel will be required domestically (15%-20% of the time). Additional travel for training purposes and for staying abreast of industry developments may be required.
