Magna Hospitality Group is seeking a Vice President Accounting to oversee all company hotels\xe2\x80\x99 financials, accounting and financial reporting. Our ideal candidate will be a creative thinker with the ability to analyze financial results for a diverse group of assets using an entrepreneurial mindset. The candidate must possess strong communication, technology, analytical and management skills, and be knowledgeable of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and USALI. This position will work closely with Accounting Supervisors, Managers, Property Accountants, Accounting Assistants, AP, AR, Cash, and Property General Managers. The VP is responsible for providing consistent leadership and supervision of the team. This position is also responsible for cash management preparation, analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and oversight of all accounting functions in a multi-company environment.
  • Supervise accounting professionals, leading, directing, and managing Accounting Managers and property Directors of Finance to insure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing internal management reports and financial statements, and consult with the operations team to develop cost saving measures.
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all financial statements due to all stake holders.
  • Review and coordinate maintenance of accurate records including Bank Reconciliations, Balance Sheets, and related reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal company SOPs.
  • Coordinating activities of external auditors, provide information for any audit requirements.
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Preparing cash flow forecasts.
  • Managing the budget process.
  • Assessing current accounting operations and offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
  • Evaluating accounting and internal controls.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases, as needed.
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics.
  • Overseeing federal, state and county regulatory compliance and reporting including but not limited to sales and use taxes, property taxes and annual reports.
  • Assist with due diligence for new properties or properties leaving the portfolio.
  • Assist with special projects as requested
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience within the hospitality industry is required.
  • Possess the knowledge and ability to lead, train and direct a team with a focus on mentoring, developing, and motivating.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with advanced Excel skills.
  • Must be able to oversee multiple properties and direct reports with the ability to prioritize.
  • Must have excellent communications and organizational skills.
  • **Must be able to work out of Warwick, RI office, no remote option**
