Job Description


The Vice President of Project Management (\xe2\x80\x9cVPPM") is an executive leadership position Sun Tribe EPC with broad responsibility for project outcomes. The VPPM will be asked to embrace a servant leadership model by coaching and improving effectiveness of the team members around them. This position stewards responsibility for recruiting, training, managing and retaining best-in-class talent and supporting them with the development of processes and systems to drive consistent successful project delivery. The VPPM is accountable for on-time and on-budget delivery of utility scale solar projects and weekly reporting to executive leadership.

Team Relationships

The VPPM position reports directly to the CEO and works closely with high value clients, internal project teams, accounting, and executive management.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Establishes, develops, and champions standardized Project Management workflows such that projects are delivered consistently between management teams to internal and external customers
  • Supports strategic ST EPC wide RASCI and SOP development, creation, training, roll out and maintain compliance
  • Manages direct reports and assigns project management resources to incoming EPC projects to achieve successful project outcomes on safety, environmental, quality, schedule, and cost
  • Autonomously solves project challenges within project schedule, scope, and budget constraints and serves as the first stop for issue elevation by project management teams and work alongside project management teams to reach resolution
  • Develops and implements standardized sub-contractor RFPs and sub-contractor selection frameworks and include additional ST EPC internal stakeholders
  • Diligently reviews and coaches project management teams through evaluation of the prime EPC agreement, development documents, owner requirements, and engineering drawings to fully understand project scope
  • Implements strategies to eliminate contractual scope gap and support SOW creation to ensure all project scope is fully covered under subcontracts or owned internally
  • Leads project crisis management efforts, mitigates risk, avoids legal action and negotiates settlements as necessary
Desired Skills and Experience
  • A minimum six (6) years of experience in solar EPC project management required
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in large construction
  • Experience leading organizations through periods of change
  • Demonstrated success managing teams to execute complex construction projects
  • Strong understanding of legal contract documents
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and MS Project
  • High level understanding of civil, electrical, and structural construction plans
  • Valid US Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
