Class Summary

The Communications Department is a fast-growing group of dedicated and passionate communications professionals who work to tell Gwinnett County Government\'s story to the nearly one million residents who call this vibrantly connected community home.

Drawing on our strong brand and using video, web, graphic design, social media, email newsletters, and other media platforms, we support the PR, marketing, and advertising needs of the County\'s departments and elected officials. Creative and detail-oriented applicants will find a dynamic, supportive environment within Communications.

The Web Administration Manager works in a fast-paced environment, supervising a team of web administrators. The manager plays a key role in ensuring the County\'s official website and employee portal provides a consistent user experience with current, accurate, and engaging content.

Essential Duties

  • Collaborates with UX content coordinator, public relations staff, graphic designers, and video producers to create and maintain web content on the County\'s public and employee websites
  • Builds new web sections and pages to meet departmental communication needs
  • Creates and manages SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, web parts, and content
  • Creates web forms
  • Ensures HTML code adheres to accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability
  • Assists ITS Web Solutions team with testing and implementation of custom web-based business solutions
  • Reviews sites and web pages to ensure adherence to the County\'s standard of excellence
  • Keeps a pulse on new web communications tools/tactics and seek new opportunities to reach target audiences
  • Performs additional duties as assigned and works extended hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed to support the Communications Department\'s programs and services
Grade
The grade for this position is 103.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer information systems, computer science, web development, communications, or a related field
  • Five years of experience in website administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Demonstrated experience in developing effective relationships with internal and external clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of various communications methods and how to develop effective website messaging for different audiences
  • Experience in content management systems
  • Proficient in HTML/CSS and XML
  • Familiar with current web standards, search engine optimization (SEO), and Google Analytics, SiteImprove, and other web reporting tools
  • Knowledge of ADA website guidelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to demonstrate skill in Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of systems, techniques, processes, and terminology used in web design, social media, and other applicable media
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using LifeRay and SharePoint platforms to build sites, navigation, and content.
  • Experience using SharePoint site collections, list design and management, web parts, and content management.
  • Experience managing online customer service solution or chatbot.
  • Experience with website migrations
  • Proficient in building and managing web forms.
  • An exceptionally creative communicator with impeccable interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Someone who enjoys learning and continually seeking new ways to grow personally and professionally.
  • Flexible, open-minded, willing to adapt to changing/competing priorities, able to manage multiple demands, and skilled in time management.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County\'s values.

In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
