Senior Grants Administrator

Job Description


The Senior Grants Administrator works in partnership with faculty and staff members of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the School of Medicine to manage the financial and administrative aspects of sponsored projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to create and manage grant budgets within required guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the sponsored research environment in an academic setting.
  • Knowledge of non-technical aspects of proposal preparation and submission for government agencies and private foundations.
  • Ability to proficiently use a variety of software applications: MS Office Suite (particularly Excel), Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, and Tulane\'s financial software (TAMS, CONCUR etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a variety of responsibilities with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a team member.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in business administration, accounting, finance, higher education administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in grants and contracts management, preferably in a health- related scientific, research and development, or higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use discretion, judgment, attention to detail, and initiative.
