The Department of Technology & Enterprise Business Solutions (TEBS), CIO Infrastructure and Cloud Services, provides support, strategic design, and administration of the County\'s Enterprise Infrastructure and Cloud Services, including DNS, Active Directory, VPN Appliance, Office 365, and Azure Cloud Service.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Montgomery County is looking for a highly skilled, experienced, and innovative Senior Information Technology Specialist to work within the Infrastructure and Cloud Services (ICS) team.

You will be responsible for supporting the above technologies. This includes working with end users in a support capacity and responding to client Trouble Tickets, monitoring servers and applications, troubleshooting problems, script creation and patching of servers.

You will be responsible for administration of the County Infrastructure including DNS, Active Directory, Pulse VPN appliance, Office365 and Azure Cloud Platform. You will support TEBS strategic goals using industry best practices in accordance with County security guidelines and compliance

You will assist in the design, development, and implementation of strategic components for the County\'s Infrastructure Cloud Services to incorporate with the overall architecture. This includes working with other teams within TEBS and with other departments to provide incorporation of interoperable framework supporting customer business process and requirements, using industry best practice and in accordance with County security guidelines and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience in administering and configuration of Active Directory, Pulse VPN, Office 365 and Azure Cloud Service including, but not limited to:

  • Supporting and administering the Office 365 using seeded tools and Power Shell
  • Supporting and administering Windows Active Directory Objects like users, Group, Computer, Group Policy and OU
  • Administering of County Exchange Server and Pulse VPN Server
  • Maintaining and have a good understanding of the Azure Cloud Service
  • Able to communicate well with customer and able to multi-tasking in executing tasks in priority
The position requires work schedule flexibility including some after-hours work, if necessary, to meet customer requirements. The County and TEBS support teleworking in accordance with County-wide and TEBS specific telework policies and procedures.

The incumbent will report to the manager of the Infrastructure Cloud Services Team.

The salary referenced below is for the Senior Information Technology Specialist, Grade N28. This position may be filled at the Information Technology Specialist III level. Grade N26, Salary: $72,061- $118,509.

Minimum Qualifications

Senior IT Specialist

We are looking for someone with five (5) years of professional experience in information technology (IT) in an analysis and technical / program leadership role at the Enterprise level.

Education

Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university, or certifications in one or more areas or specialties.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. IT Specialist III

We are looking for someone with three (3) years of professional experience in information technology (IT) in an analysis and technical / program leadership role at the Enterprise level.

Education

Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or university, or certifications in one or more areas or specialties.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Preferred Criteria

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:
  • Ability to perform system administration and demonstrated experience of Active Directory including DNS, User, Group, Computer, Group policy, Organization Unit objects within Active Directory.
  • Ability to perform system administration and demonstrated experience of Microsoft O365 with Hybrid Exchange server in user provisioning and daily operation and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to perform system administration and demonstrated experience of Pulse VPN Appliances.
  • Extensive understanding and demonstrated experience in Cloud Service like Azure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system issue related to Active Directory, O365 and Pulse VPN and automate repeated tasks with PowerShell.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, good presentation, communication with people that have different technical background and different roles.
