We have distribution facilities in France, Canada, and Arizona. This role is based in Clemmons, NC (this location is in the Piedmont Triad areas - Winston-Salem, High Point, Greensboro).

Position Overview:

Located in our Clemmons, NC facility and reporting to the R&D Lab Supervisor, the Test Lab Engineer works globally and cross-functionally to design, develop, and test new products, improve existing products, and evaluate competitor\xe2\x80\x99s products. The Test Lab Engineer carries out test plans on swimming pool related equipment for conformity with both internal and industry standards. Applies Engineering principles and technical skills to design, build, install, and implement systems to support testing needs. Works directly with Engineering & Technical staff, modifies & assembles products, sets-up and conducts tests and analyzes and documents results. Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgement and initiatives are required. Maintains a working knowledge of Hayward products, tests, procedures, and industry standards. Requires an aptitude to become cross-trained and competent in performing a majority of the tasks associated within the lab along with the ability to train others. Demonstrates the ability and desire to work as a team and advance within the Hayward organization. This individual will ensure that the highest level of design quality, integrity, and performance are maintained with strict adherence to Hayward Industries and all applicable policies and procedures including local codes and safety.

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering, and Technology to efficiently and accurately execute product testing plans and interpret product standards, test procedures and results.
  • Possesses the ability, knowledge, and skill to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions, industry standards, test procedures, process diagrams and schematics.
  • Designs test setups and execute tests incorporating equipment such as flow meters, pressure transducers, vacuum transducers, voltmeters, and computerized test equipment where applicable.
  • Uploads and configures hardware, firmware, and software for products under test.
  • Collaborates with the Technical Design & Reliability Teams and contributes to project meetings.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate observations and present test methodology and results to other Team Members and Senior staff.
  • Translates industry standards and Engineering Work Requests into working test setups using intermediate mechanical, plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on products under evaluation to ensure that tests continue to function as intended and are producing statistically valid results.
  • Selects, configures, programs, and applies PLC\xe2\x80\x99s and Data Acquisition System hardware and software
  • Provides data analysis using computer software
  • Mentors other lab staff and leads by example
  • Identifies and coordinates continuous improvement opportunities to improve operational efficiencies in the lab.
  • Setup and test IoT products and systems. Familiar with communications protocols such as Bluetooth and WiFi and cloud based systems.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated. A strong aptitude and desire to learn with an attention to detail and ability to work independently are essential.
  • Strong aptitude and experience with testing and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven problem solving, analytical, and logical reasoning skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Unquestionable ethics. Must maintain company sensitive information in confidence.
  • Clearly Speak, Read, and Write using the English language.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, and government/industry standards and specifications
  • Ability to maintain excellence and accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to swim
Education and Experience:
  • BS Degree in Engineering Sciences or Technology.
  • Commensurate skills and experiences may be considered.
Physical Requirements:
  • Some lifting of products under test up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting, standing and frequent walking within and between departments are required.
Work Environment:

The environment is both an office and laboratory setting, both indoors and outdoors, in all seasons and weather conditions. Work is frequently conducted around water, moving parts, and electrical machinery. The environment is occasionally noisy.
