About Us:

Middle River Aerostructure Systems is a world-leading manufacturer of thrust reversers (the braking system on a jet engine), engine nacelle components and specialized aerostructures. It supplies and supports these products for engine makers, airplane manufacturers and aircraft operators. Located on Maryland\'s Chesapeake Bay near Baltimore, MRAS has a 1.7-million sq. ft. facility situated on 180 acres \xe2\x80\x93 where the company and its predecessors have designed, built and equipped civil and military aircraft for over 90 years. In 2019, MRAS was acquired by ST Engineering North America, the U.S. affiliate of Singapore-based ST Engineering \xe2\x80\x93 becoming a part of its global network of aerospace facilities and offices. With the ownership change, the company was renamed Middle River Aerostructure Systems.

Quality Management Systems Leader Role Summary/Purpose:

The Quality Management System Leader work to develop and maintain systems, rules, and processes to ensure fulfillment of internal and external Quality requirements. The QMS Leader ensures that internal processes and products are capable of meeting FAA/EASA Regulatory and ISO 9001/AS9100 Standards. Seasoned and deep understanding of concepts, approaches and methodology used in each.

Essential Responsibilities of a QMS Leader:

  • Drives execution rigor Interface with leadership on various initiatives to support strategic decision making, maintain strong communication, and establish cross-functional operating mechanisms.
  • Standardization of processes, tools and performance management system.
  • Ensure process efficiency and compliance effectiveness by working with documentation control and training teams.
  • Solving issues and developing new solutions that require usage of methods and approaches with some precedence.
  • Authority in the network of Quality experts and in project teams.
  • Present Quality program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Input and influence decisions within own discipline and area.
  • Communicate recommendations and solutions across direct organization and with cross-functional organizations.
  • Involved in complex decision making, sometimes with external parties.
  • Develop QMS relevant processes.
  • Drive/elevate quality culture and engagement to the organization as a top priority.
  • Develop, implement, continuously improve and support applicable QMS, ensuring compliance, usability, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Leverage metrics to assist in shaping the strategy of the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Provide Quality training, which includes but not limited to New Hire Orientation training, FOD Prevention training, Counterfeit Parts Prevention training, and Quality Inspector training.
  • Manage documentation collaboration, formatting, numbering system, issuance, and archive.
\xc2\xb7 Responsible for direct report(s) supporting QMS functions.

Bachelor Degree from an accredited university or college (or an Associates Degree/High School Diploma with 5+ years of professional aviation or quality experience).

Minimum of 1 year of Quality experience focused on Quality Management Systems (Internal/External Auditing, Nadcap- Special Processes, AS9100/ISO 9001 Requirements, Record Retention, Acceptance Media Process for production) is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Aviation Quality Assurance role is highly preferred.
  • Must be skilled in planning and organizing, conflict management, coaching others, talent selection, developing others, decision making and building relationships.
  • Must have strong authorship and be able to critically review investigations with Quality risk management principles.

  • Experience performing internal audits and participating in external audits.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Familiar with FAA 21.137, EASA, and other aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to multitask and handles tasks with competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to lead cross functionally with influence.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management System tools, continuous improvement methodologies and in-depth understanding of site level products and related processes.
  • Detail oriented and strong computer skills.
  • Experience with ERP software applications and Microsoft Applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of AS9100 Quality Management System.
