Your role at Baxter



  • The Product Specialist is a member of the Global Service team with the main responsibility for identifying and developing new solutions to improve service delivery processes, ensure new products are service ready, providing service input and direction to Executive Management, Quality, Marketing, Regulatory, Sales, Global Product Team and Risk teams.

What you\'ll be doing
  • Supports Sustaining projects including Engineering changes and development. Maintain service readiness through change.
  • Creates, reviews, and approves service deliverables throughout the product lifecycle for medical device products/systems.
  • Creates global service plans for new product platform releases. Supports new product platform releases. Develops and implements service training, test equipment, tools, spare parts, and service manuals / instructions.
  • Creates (or modifies existing) servicing processes and manuals to support repair or refurbishment of fielded product at multiple global sites or in the field.
  • Works closely with design team to select, develop, and implement technologies across all medical device development programs.
  • Works closely with program core team members like Marketing, Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, R&D, and Global Service Operations to achieve product line objectives.
  • May independently plan, schedule, and lead cross-functional teams in detailed phases of the engineering work in a project.
  • Participates as the service representative on the Engineering Change Board. You\'ll approve projects and documents as service representative and develop business cases for program development and implementation.
  • Analyzes key service metrics and identifies opportunities to improve service by reducing cost, increasing quality, or finding revenue opportunities.
  • Coordinates information flow between the corporate organization and local/regional teams.
  • Owns Corrective and Preventive Actions related to the product(s) core team(s) supported, using sound root cause analysis.
What you\'ll bring
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Operations, related fields, or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of engineering (core principles: mechanical, biomedical, electrical, or industrial) or healthcare operations experience or service experience required.
  • 1-3 years or medical device or healthcare organization preferred.
  • 1-3 years sustaining engineering, focusing on the service aspect of a health care organization preferred.
  • Must have good interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, good time management, and be capable of analyzing and solving technical problems through innovative thought and application of sound engineering principles and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively to all levels in the organization, including senior management.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and draw conclusions based on available information.
  • Good understanding of GMP and quality system requirements.
  • Project management across functional groups preferred.
  • Experience with change control methodologies and configuration management principles is a plus.
  • Experience with EMR connectivity and remote service resolution is a plus
  • Experience with test engineering and/or reliability engineering principles is a plus.
  • Experience in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools highly desirable.
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $60,000 to $132,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
