Job Description


The Product Management Intern (InnerSource), will provide coordination, support, communication, and policy and process management across a number of initiatives in News Corp\'s Consumer Product organization.

The successful candidate will coordinate and connect the dots across multiple product engineering teams and functions; ensure that product processes and documentation are clearly communicated, archived, and delivered; provide product research support; create/develop written synthesis and reporting across a number of product workstreams.

This role is currently remote but is based out of News Corp HQ in NYC.

InnerSource Program Responsibilities:

  • Innersource Strategy: Collaborate with the product management team to develop and execute an innersource strategy for our organization, aimed at promoting cross-team collaboration, open-source principles, and efficient knowledge sharing.
Innersource Tools and Infrastructure: Assist in identifying, evaluating, and implementing innersource tools and infrastructure that support effective code sharing, version control, and collaborative development across teams.

Documentation and Best Practices: Work closely with various teams to document innersource best practices, guidelines, and workflows. Create comprehensive documentation, tutorials, and resources to promote the adoption of innersource practices within the organization.

Training and Education: Help develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and presentations to educate teams about the benefits and processes of innersource. Support individuals and teams in adopting and leveraging innersource principles and tools.

Community Building: Foster a vibrant innersource community within our organization by organizing events, hackathons, and knowledge sharing sessions. Facilitate networking and collaboration opportunities across teams and departments.

Feedback and Iteration: Gather feedback from users and stakeholders on innersource initiatives, tools, and processes. Continuously iterate and improve the innersource program based on feedback and emerging industry trends.

General Responsibilities:
  • Support HQ Product leaders in properly memorializing product documentation and keeping this documentation up to date.
Maintain templates, guidelines, how-to-references and resources.

Synthesize information from a variety of product workstreams and provide concise, well-written, narrative summaries, suitable for internal or external publication (case studies, new product announcements, etc)

Coordinate calendars, groups, notes, and follow-ups for cross-business unit global product engineering collaboration programs

Identify ongoing opportunities for improvement in process and approach

Manage or assist in managing administrative tasks and processes related to third-party product vendors

Conduct competitive and market research related to new and existing products

Manage and maintain product related content on various Slack channels and other internal or external product team communication surfaces.

Propose and set up new processes, systems or automation to help our Product team operate more effectively.

Assist in onboarding new employees, specifically helping them understand the standards for process, documentation, and communication.

Provide as-needed support to the Product team related to product testing, launches, maintenance and support.

Skills & Experience:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide range of teams and seniority levels

Familiarity with common tech team software tools, including: Google Workspace (Slides, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, groups), Slack, Confluence/Notion, Jira

Product and design thinking

Interest in, and understanding of, the digital product landscape

Flexible, growth mindset

Experience with digital publishing platforms and social media

Previous project management or product management experience

Influencing others to achieve a common goal

Prioritizing and managing multiple work streams simultaneously

NYC Pay Range: $21 per hour
