PCSU URBAN FORESTRY PROGRAM COORDINATOR \xe2\x80\x93 ID# 223231. CLOSING DATE: April 25, 2023. INQUIRIES: Michael Waring 518-5960 (Oahu). Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit (PCSU), Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), Urban Forestry Project, located in Honolulu, Hawai\xe2\x80\x98i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications. DUTIES: Coordinates matters pertinent to urban and community forestry partnership development and community engagement. Identifies potential projects and provides support to develop proposals. Facilitates the grant application process and award. Oversees, tracks, and reports progress and accomplishments, and advises on next steps. Manages and tracks project budget on a quarterly basis. Writes and submits semi-annual progress reports and financial reports. Responsible for program matching information and number of trees distributed and planted and ensures all applicable protocols are followed. Plans meetings and presents accomplishments to project sponsors, advisory council, the public and collaborates with partners to further project\xe2\x80\x99s initiatives and goals. Plans green infrastructure events to improve visibility for the program and to promote tree planting and care efforts statewide. Conducts site visits in natural areas that can be visited by community groups, school groups, or other segments of the public. Oversees, tracks and reports volunteer hours on the Community Accomplishment Reporting System (CARS). Collates and reports State Assistance provided to the community. Develops presentations to existing and potential partners (e.g., State Agencies and County Councils) to promote urban and community forestry, partnerships, and Forest Action Plan goals. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Botanical, Biological, Environmental Science, or related field. EXPERIENCE One to three (1-3) years working in natural resource project management. Experience must include at least one (1) year of project management, finance/budget management, designing and maintaining databases, and report writing. KNOWLEDGE Strong knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of procurement. Awareness of common tree species (e.g., native, Polynesian-introduced, non-native, invasive) planting, and their occurrence in urban Hawai\xe2\x80\x98i or similar areas. ABILITIES & SKILLS Excellent organizational, planning, leadership, and communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal), as well as strong problem-solving, decision-making, and process management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs and Google equivalent. Ability to manage program budgets efficiently. Ability to initiate, plan, coordinate, and implement urban and community forestry outreach and education. Ability to coordinate volunteers. Must possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver\xe2\x80\x99s insurance equivalent to Hawai\xe2\x80\x98i No-Fault Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS Ability to hike up to five (5) miles to plant and maintain trees in urban and community spaces such as parks, schools, gardens, farms, and community forests. POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai\xe2\x80\x98i\'s and/or business entity\'s policies and procedures. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Familiar with DOFAW and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service Programs, Policies, and Protocols. Experience working with underserved and at-risk populations. Experience in grounding programs in equity, justice, diversity and inclusion. Specialized experience in working with non-profit and civic organizations involved in urban and community forestry. Experience working on urban and community forestry projects in Hawai\xe2\x80\x98i. Working knowledge of community agroforestry systems. Experience in event planning.
