Position Summary
The Parking Services Representative provides support for Transportation and Parking Services in the areas of parking enforcement, event parking, and parking maintenance. They assist the Parking Enforcement Supervisor with training, scheduling, and supporting student employees and regularly updating training manuals. This position will be responsible for the set-up and tear-down of event parking on campus (signs, barricades, wayfinding information) as well as data collection and analysis regarding citation issuance and revenue collection.

This position has a driving requirement related to the use of a mobile license plate recognition vehicle, and must therefore maintain a PSU driver\xe2\x80\x99s certification and a valid State-issued driver\xe2\x80\x99s license throughout employment.


Minimum Qualifications from Classification
Minimum Qualifications are not established for this classification. The appointing authority is responsible for recruitment and selection. Refer to Personnel Rule 105-43-005.


Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

  • Experience as a parking kiosk attendant or enforcement officer.
  • Experience coordinating parking events and reservations.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate, orally and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours per day with breaks, and climb stairs.
  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in training and communicating both complex and routine procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Work Days/Hours
40 hours a week, with a flexible schedule to be set at time of hire. Schedule may change to meet operational needs or seasonal patterns, with minimum 2-week notice.


Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting hourly salary rate for this position will be between $15.59 and $17.43. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.

Special Working Conditions:
This position is located in the Transportation and Parking Services office at Portland State University. The working schedule has the potential for overtime on occasion.

This is a high-stress position dealing with the issuance of parking citations and providing information to a high volume of customers.

This position will also provide backup to the Transportation and Parking Services office, including clerical, cashier, and customer service-related tasks.
