Job Purpose: Responsible for the company\'s network operations. Functions include: switching, transport, power, and packet installation and maintenance, network surveillance and dispatching, network administration, and network provisioning. Responsibilities may also cover the access and CPE portions of the network. The individual must display a good balance between running operations, managing the workforce, and understanding the team\'s role in the company.
Essential Functions:
  • Assign and manage workload to ensure that due dates are met
  • Monitors the work being performed by direct reports to assure actions being taken are appropriate and effective
  • Monitors attendance and performs appraisals as needed for direct-reports, create and manage scheduling and overtime; ensure proper time reporting procedures are followed to properly account for distribution of capital and expense labor
  • Manage and maintain a staffing model that utilizes demand and routine work results to determine appropriate staffing levels; track and analyze performance, productivity, quality and customer contact results and implements action plans with regard to improvements
  • Development operational plans, programs, and organizational changes to ensure the goals and objectives of the organization are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters
  • Manage improvement plans and programs to insure timely implementation of process, support system and/or operational changes; track and analyze performance, productivity, quality and customer contact results and implements action plans with regard to improvements in each category
  • Review, pre-field, and order materials for work orders prior to deployment
  • Track time, materials and complete all paperwork, as associated with progress reports, completion reports, work order revisions, etc.
  • Meet short and long term objectives and commitments as directed
  • Perform and document Safety and Quality Inspections and bimonthly Safety Meetings
  • Assist engineers, planners and project managers with planning details and cost
  • On-call to respond to fiber and copper outages
  • Responsible for adherence to and communications of Company Policies, practices and expectations on a timely basis

Education: Two years of College or Technical School resulting in an Associate\'s Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:
  • Must have valid driver\'s license
  • Must be able to obtain additional security clearances

Relevant Work Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years in related field
  • Experience in outside plant construction, cable maintenance, field operations, broadband data services, and/or engineering preferred

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Familiar with Hawaiian Telcom facility records, provisioning, outside and inside plant records
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment, systems and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian Telcom\'s products and services

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has one or more employee direct reports
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
