JOB SUMMARY

The Yard Coordinator is responsible for supporting the yard functions related to safety and quality including the load configuration, load securement and pre-trip inspections by all drivers prior to release of freight. To ensure quality and safety, the coordinator will make recommendations for additional training when necessary to the associate\'s manager, audit loads for possible adjustments and render the load out of service until the load is properly secured and in compliance with policies and procedures. The coordinator will perform minimal dispatch and load building duties utilizing the Transportation Management System.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support work group\'s commitment to winning and achieving USAL\'s mission, vision and goals.
  • Insure proper load configuration and release drivers with their loads.
  • Works with training dept. to insure quality, legally compliant loads are obtained with all drivers.
  • Establish and maintain corporate and legal policies for loading and tying vehicles down.
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA laws and policies.
  • Complete and sign documents certifying the load is safe and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Works with dispatch to make sure the VPC load lines are clear.
  • Complete random fleet evaluations and immediately take non-compliant equipment out of service. Communicate issues with driver supervisors.
  • Insure the loading Yard is safe for drivers and other associates. Close and clear the loading Yard in the event of weather or other safety related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Five (5) years or more of vehicle loading, transporting, and unloading experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS*
Class A CDL preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
