Job Summary

The Learning Community and Special Programs Coordinator will provide a full range of academic support services to the College of Engineering (COE) students participating in the various Learning communities developed by the COE to promote student success. The individual who will hold the position will be responsible for improving and delivering services to students through the coordination of campus services, summer programs, technology, and communication. This position will assist the Dean\'s Office and the Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) Outreach and Recruitment Program Director in the recruitment, scheduling, program planning, implementation, and data collection of COE\'s Learning communities and special programs academic and extracurricular activities. Additionally, the Learning Community Coordinator, will collaborate with the ESSC advisors, the Outreach and Recruitment Office staff, faculty, and university stakeholders to address program needs and to develop strategies that support the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students. This position reports to the Outreach and Recruitment Director and is housed within the Engineering Students Success Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting of and provide support services to engineering students participating in Learning Communities and Special Programs. Coordinate the development of outreach and information material related to Leaning Communities and Special Programs. Assist in developing and updating outreach material and website related to Learning Communities and Special Programs.
  • Coordinate advising, tutoring, and mentoring activities to promote the success of students in Learning Communities and Special Programs. Collaborate with faculty and appropriate university offices to support students at risk.
  • Provide assistance on data collection and participate in the assessment of program learning outcomes.
  • Other activities related to student success of initiatives as identified by the College of Engineering.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge/experience with MS Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access to track and maintain data and prepare/format data reports. Basic knowledge of software to produce publishing materials. Ability to plan and organize a multitude of tasks and projects and collaborate with a variety of students, professional staff, faculty, offices, and programs. Excellent communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus population.

Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university\'s commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

The Learning Communities and Special Programs Coordinator position requires an individual who has the equivalent to a bachelor\'s degree in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

Master\'s degree is preferred.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department\'s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
