This is a thrilling time for the organization, as it prepares to celebrate its 150 th anniversary in 2024 and continues to implement a Capital Campaign to renovate its historic home. The development team is a dynamic group of highly skilled, goal-focused individuals who, alongside program partners, continue to achieve fundraising success by finding creative and unique ways to inspire support across the organization.

Position Summary

At this momentous time in 92NY\'s history, the scope and volume of the Development Department\'s work continues to expand exponentially, making it imperative to continue growing the team\'s staff resources. Reporting to the Vice President, Major Gifts and Special Events and working closely with the Chief Development Officer, the Development Officer, Major Gifts & Special Projects is an integral member of the development team who possesses strong portfolio management skills and proven frontline fundraising experiences. The Development Officer is responsible for achieving an assigned annual revenue goal through the generation of increased and new major gifts and the continuing cultivation of annual donors and loyal patrons, which includes significant major gift prospecting efforts from 92NY\'s growing pool of ticket buyers, class attendees, and other patrons. The incumbent also serves as a primary liaison in implementing 92NY\'s Campaign for the Next 150.

  • Manage a portfolio of 150+ donors throughout their gift cycle including initiating contact from prospect status, development of appropriate cultivation strategies, moving donors and potential donors to close and/or upgrade gifts, and make solo solicitations when appropriate.
  • Maintain stewardship contacts and forge relationships with new major gift prospects with a particular focus on those with capacity to make six and seven figure gifts.
  • Work closely with select 92NY Center Directors to build philanthropic communities and maximize fundraising opportunities from within their respective constituencies.
  • Serve as primary liaison on execution and implementation of 92NY\'s Capital Campaign in collaboration with an external Campaign consultant. Activities may include but are not limited to: developing and executing cultivation plans and strategies leading to solicitations; managing campaign gift correspondence, including timely acknowledgments, pledge payment reminders, pledge agreements and preparing and submitting reports to donors as required.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the many aspects of gift stewardship including planned giving and donation upgrades.
  • Work collaboratively with entire development staff to ensure the maximization of all gifting opportunities.
  • Offer prospect strategy counsel to staff and volunteers where appropriate.
  • Attend evening/weekend programs in order to steward/cultivate current and new donors and to encourage further collaborative fundraising partnerships with key program partners.
  • Draft compelling letters and fundraising proposals to solicit renewed and new major gifts as well as continual cultivation of annual donor relationships with 92NY.
  • Ability to articulate 92NY\'s philosophy, mission, and goals succinctly.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as related or assigned.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
  • Bachelor\'s degree; Master\'s preferred.
  • A proven, successful, track record of closing five and six figure gifts with a goal of attaining seven figures as well.
  • At least five to seven years of portfolio management and major gift solicitation experience in a fast-paced complex institution.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a demonstrated track record of growing revenues through successful and meaningful prospecting efforts.
  • Expertise in working with high-net worth individuals including Board members.
  • Strong organizational skills and discipline in stewarding donor information and database records.
  • Adherence to the highest ethical standards with the ability to act with discretion, self-assurance and diplomacy.
  • Ability to think creatively and entrepreneurially about ways to fundraise for 92NY\'s many diverse and unique program areas.
  • Sound judgment in maintaining strictest of confidentiality of donor information.
  • Willingness and desire to attend evening/weekend programming activities in order to cultivate/steward key donors and prospects.
  • Demonstrate a collegial disposition to achieve required results with the ability to work positively in a flexible team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Tessitura preferred.
Work Environment & Requirements

Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch break for a total of 40 hours per week.

This position is approved to utilize a hybrid working model which is subject to change in the future.

Compensation Range

$95,000 - $105,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
