Closing Date: 06/01/2023 Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for a Sports Activity and Aftercare Coordinator for the Investigative Learning Camp, a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics)-based academic summer camp designed for students entering grades 3-8. This position runs July 10 \xe2\x80\x93 August 4, 12:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. There will be a mandatory orientation meeting on Thursday, July 6. Specific Responsibilities
Supervise a diverse group of campers that have different educational backgrounds and experiences
Assist the Sports Activity Coordinator in planning and supervising field sports activities such as kickball, soccer, and capture the flag.
Supervise and provide instructions for a high-school counselor, who will assist with the afternoon field sports activities.
Develop and supervise a varied and engaging set of indoor and outdoor activities for elementary and middle school students enrolled in our aftercare program.
Organize, prepare, and clean up supplies for aftercare activities.
Oversee aftercare check-in and check-out procedures.
Work with the Investigative Learning Camp Director to provide individualized support for campers and to manage any disciplinary or behavioral issues that may arise.
Requirements and Qualifications
Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
Prior experience working with a diverse student population and demonstrated equity and inclusion mindset. Candidates should be aware of their own identity and biases; candidate actively works to create an inclusive environment.
A high-school degree, bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree preferred
Experience coaching, teaching, or tutoring a diverse group of elementary or middle-school students
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Positive and collaborative attitude
First Aid and CPR certification obtained before July 10, 2023
Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.

Compensation The stipend range for this position is $3,150 - $3,200. Lunch is included. This activity will only run if enough students register. Enrollment will remain open until June 1. If the number of students enrolled is too small to run by June 1, or if the course is canceled for any reason, the stipend will not be paid.
