The Inventory Analyst oversees inventory related accounting for legacy Valspar North America sites that are running the Oracle 11i ERP. Utilizing investigative skills; the Inventory Analyst will identify, research, and remedy accounting variances. The Analyst puts emphasis on book to perpetual review and plays a key role during annual physical inventory. In this role, the Inventory Analyst will develop a familiarity with inventory and operational accounting and strengthen analytical and problem-solving skills. The analyst drives continuous improvement by providing innovative feedback and employs transactional lean tools to make inventory processes increasingly more efficient.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Physical Inventory Exempt (PIE) program
  • Conduct Audit procedures to support Physical Inventory Exempt (PIE) locations.
  • Support Physical Inventories for sites not on the PIE program
  • Review month end results, assisting with explanations and root cause analysis of gains and losses in shrink and obsolescence
  • Calculate and book a variety of inventory related journal entries in support of monthly financial close including but not limited to Shrink, Book to Perpetual, and Obsolescence
  • Accountable for completing assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the transitions of Valspar N. America sites from Oracle 11i to Oracle Cloud as required
  • Assist with the General Ledger to Perpetual reconciliation process for several Global Supply Chain sites by timely identification and resolution of inventory variances
Ad-hoc reporting and projects will be assigned as needed. Projects and reporting may include gathering data for Audit requests, Global Supply Chain initiatives, or other focus areas.

Experience Required:
  • 2+ years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, EPM, and Oracle.
Experience Preferred:
  • 1+ years of manufacturing accounting experience
  • Experience with Oracle 11i, Oracle Analytics, and EPM
  • Inventory and/or Cost Accounting Experience
Education Required: Bachelor\'s Degree with a major in Accounting or Finance.

  • Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs
  • Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone
  • Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required
