Nature of Work

1 Vacancy in Kanawha County

Oversee, design, develop, and conduct workshops, drills, tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises (both internal and external) to evaluate, maintain, and enhance the partners in emergency response operations. Ensure adequate documentation to support federal audits and data requests. Develop, maintain, and oversee implementation of state exercise and training plans to meet preparedness and response requirements. Provide technical assistance to local health departments, hospitals, and other response partners in the development of exercises testing health and medical responsibilities. Works with state and federal agencies and others to coordinate health and medical participation in partner exercises and evaluation of the same. Lead and be a member of exercise planning teams with state and local response partners in the development of internal and external training exercises. Facilitate cross-sector meetings to evaluate response operations. Develop and write After Action Reports (AAR\'s) following exercises or real-life events with public health and health care response. Create Improvement Plans (IP\'s) based on the findings of after-action meetings. Manage all exercise components of federal grants and budgets related to grants. Develop contracts for exercise support; report exercises, AAR\'s and IP\'s to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), and other entities. Post events on state and federal activity calendars. Maintain Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) expertise; participate in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) online training and other trainings to support and maintain skills. Be available 24/7/365 for contact and response for public emergencies. Train and fill emergency response positions within the Incident Command structure. Due to exposure to varying weather conditions, long periods of time standing and traveling difficult terrain during exercise and real-life responses the candidate must be physically able to work in such adverse conditions. Develop and engage in other related topics with state and local health agencies and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Bachelor\'s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.

Substitution: Additional experience as described below may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: Four years full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.

Substitution: Post-graduate education in a field related to the technical or program area may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours for one year of experience.
