Summary: Provide outstanding retail customer service to guests by asking questions, listening to their requests, and determining their needs to help them make their purchasing decision. Ensure guests feel welcome and valued at all times.
Essential Functions
Customer Service
Greet guests to create and maintain a welcoming environment and address their needs, questions, and concerns
Learn and continually update knowledge of the train experience, including information about the surrounding area attractions and visitor services to provide information and answer a wide variety of guest questions
Transactions
Be accountable for accurate financial transactions and reconciliation, including recording the beginning and end of the day cash drawers; completing sales transactions, counting money; separating charge slips, coupons; balancing cash drawers; bank deposits; writing reports, etc.
Organization
Be responsible for the appearance of the Dept interior and exterior; keep facilities tidy, clean, and inviting to reflect a high level of quality we expect to offer our guests
Tasks performed to ensure the quality appearance include checking and cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors, emptying trash, window interior and exterior cleaning, dusting and tidying merchandise shelves, and similar duties
Keep gift shop and back storage areas clean, organized, and stocked
Perform other duties assigned by management
Education/Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or actively pursuing an education
Retail sales experience preferred but not required
Skills/Aptitudes
Effective and strong communication skills
Knowledge and experience with computer applications
Strong customer service orientation
Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task, working efficiently with little supervision
Ability to work well within a team environment
Working Conditions/Essential Job Functions
Energetic and Friendly - High energy workplace, positive attitude with customers and colleagues
Flexible - Variable work environment; work is conducted during high and low customer traffic; continually changing schedule due to tourist traffic including long days, weekends, and holidays
* Physical - Must be able to lift up 20 lbs, bend, climb a step stool, and stand for extended periods and quickly change skillset to stocking and cleaning when customer traffic is slow
