JOURNEYMAN FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I ZACHRY is currently seeking a Journeyman Facility Maintenance Technician I for Maintenance work.

Position Summary A Journeyman Facility Maintenance Technician I will support and execute the safe, quality, and efficient completion of various tasks related to facility maintenance work being performed at a petrochemical processing plant, including but not limited to:
  • Craft specific facility maintenance labor
  • Performs a variety of moderate to complex finish carpenter and/or facility maintenance related activities, both indoor (generally) and outdoor, to include but not limited to the construction, repair, maintenance of building interiors and exteriors (drywall, masonry, metal, paint, flooring (carpet, vinyl, tile, etc.), lighting (switches, fixtures, bulbs, etc.), minor electrical tasks (plugs, outlets, switches, etc.), hanging and relocating of miscellaneous wall mounted items (pictures, displays, shelves, signage, televisions, etc.); furniture (moderate and high-grade desks, chairs, cabinets, office equipment, etc.) assembly, delivery, modifying, setting, and/or relocating; infrastructure repairs, modifications, installation; woodwork (bins, shelves, benches, stairs, decks, walls/partitions, etc.); windows; doors; cubicles; mortaring, grouting, tiling, and cement repair, installation, maintenance; ceilings (fixed and drop) installation, repair; minor roof repairs; minor HVAC repairs, installation, troubleshooting; drywall (rough and finish) installation, repair, and maintenance; minor plumbing (rough and finish) installation, repair, and maintenance; miscellaneous activities (door lock and key, locksmithing, small appliance installation, dispenser units, filter changes, kitchen equipment etc.); minor/general groundskeeping/landscaping.
  • Providing support services such as but not limited to firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, light equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting/delivery, general housekeeping, etc.

  • Must be willing and able to work:
    • Up to 7 days per week
    • Overtime, call-out, etc. as required
  • Must be capable of working under the direction of a skilled Leadman and under the supervision of an experienced Foreman.
  • Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to oversee safety-sensitive work which includes but is not limited to the preparation, set-up, and execution of hot work, confined space entry, and fresh air work.
  • Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to utilize all related tools, apparatuses, equipment, etc. to execute safety-sensitive work which includes but is not limited to the preparation, set-up, and execution of hot work, confined space entry, and fresh air work.
  • Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing facility maintenance activities.
  • Must be capable of reading, understanding, and adhering to restrictions and/or requirements of various types of work permits and/or JSAs.
  • Must successfully complete Short Service Employee (SSE) program, if applicable.
  • Must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period. Any disciplinary and/or attendance issues during this time will be grounds for termination.
  • Must maintain satisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of no less than 3.0. Unsatisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of less than 3.0 for two consecutive cycles will result in disciplinary action, up to termination, for poor performance.

Position Responsibilities
  • Must have a strong approach, understanding, and commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in an industrial environment.
  • Must be capable of and will be expected to perform pre-task hazard assessments to identify potential risks and implement pro-active elimination and/or mitigation techniques.
  • Must have extensive and demonstrated experience performing facility maintenance activities on/around various types of industrial equipment, buildings, and facilities in a petrochemical facility.
  • Must actively participate and support site programs such as (at a minimum):
    • Safe Catch/Quality Catch/Stop Work Authority
    • Continuous Improvement (SMART Focus)
    • Applicable customer initiatives/programs

Preferred Qualifications Current or Former Zachry Employee with acceptable ESR rating only.
Reports to Position This position does not have any direct reports.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Performance Verified (PV) certification for:
    • Commercial Carpenter (strongly preferred)
    • Industrial Carpenter
    • Drywall
    • Cabinetry
    • Plumbing
  • Certification from accredited training program in lieu of NCCER certification(s).
  • Must have a minimum score of 85% on the Zachry Craft Assessment test pre-employment.
  • Must have at a minimum 4 years of related experience as a Facility Maintenance Technician I.
  • Must have experience using industrial hand and power tools in an industrial work environment, such as but not limited to handheld concrete saws, walk-behind concrete saws, general carpenter shop tools (miter saws, radial arm saws, drill presses, wood lathes, etc.),
  • Should have experience with operating light equipment such as, but not limited to, Georgia buggies, AWP (such as, but not limited to scissor lifts, manlifts, etc.), drywall jacks, pickup trucks, golf carts/buggies, small flatbed trucks, tommy lifts, floor scrapers, etc.
  • Must possess good problem-solving abilities and an agile mindset.
  • Must possess aptitude for finish carpentry, have effective computing, literacy, and numeracy skills, and manual dexterity.
  • Must possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License.
  • Must possess effective communication skills (written and/or verbal) with co-workers, supervisors, and customer.
  • Must possess a strong commitment/understanding of Zachry and customer core values, safety rules, and regulations.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid TWIC card for the duration of employment.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain applicable Safety Council and/or Site-Specific credentials for the duration of employment.
  • Must be capable of reading and comprehending technical manuals as well as industrial/engineered drawings such as but not limited to blueprints, sketches, plans, P&ID, etc. to determine scope of work, locations, required tools/equipment, and bill of materials to execute activities.
  • Must be capable of leading and mentoring other crew members such as helpers, apprentices, and Journeymen II.
  • Must possess skills and ability to preplan, coordinate, and order material for specific jobs/activities/tasks.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience with facility maintenance and finish carpentry.
  • Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing facility maintenance activities.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, cycling, bending, squatting, lifting, and physically demanding work.
  • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50lbs.
  • Must be capable and comfortable working at extreme heights on fixed, temporary, and/or mobile platforms.
  • Must be capable and comfortable working within confined spaces to include but not limited to tanks, vessels, pits, excavations, etc.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Must be capable of working inside (generally) however may need to also work outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, chemical suits, and steel-toe boots.
