Position Overview

The Bureau of Human Resources is seeking to hire an employee to fulfill the role of Human Resource Specialist by bringing a positive energy to the workplace, providing specialized human resource services for the Illinois Department of Agriculture. The ideal candidate will be courteous and strive to treat others with dignity and equality. The individual must be highly organized and be able to complete a variety of technical functions within a fast-paced office. Job Responsibilities
  • Serves as agency timekeeper.
  • Coordinates and conducts new employee orientation and offboarding.
  • Administers the Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs.
  • Under direction of the Bureau Chief, develops and administers the employee relations program.
  • Runs reports from HRIS and other databases.
  • Participates in cross training to learn other areas of responsibility in the Bureau of Human Resources.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration, management, or human resources.
  • Requires one year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefers experience processing timekeeping, including leaves of absence, use of benefit time and overtime.
  • Prefers experience administering the ADA and/or EEO programs for a public or private organization.
  • Prefers experience with public speaking in front of a small group of people.
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires the ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Requires a valid drivers license and the ability to travel in support of duties.
Work Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm/Monday - Friday
