Student Conduct Services & Support Specialist

This position will report directly to the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Conduct to help foster a safe and prosperous environment for our students on the Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa campuses. What you will do:
  • Develop and facilitate educational training and outreach for students
  • Schedule and facilitate informal conflict resolution processes
  • Provide administrative support for the Office of Student Conduct
Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor\'s degree.
Equivalency/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor\'s degree.

Skills:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate well and build quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Outstanding communicator and strong writer; an individual who possesses superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner
  • Familiarity working with a university information management systems
  • Experience producing budgetary reports
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to effectively communicate both one-on-one and to large groups
  • Ability to objectively evaluate both allegations and defenses
  • Ability to effectively present evidence to a hearing panel
  • Ability to produce reports of investigations and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful or confrontational situations
  • Must be able to communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations
  • Superior, balanced judgment with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information professionally and appropriately with great discretion
  • Expert knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, policies, ordinances, and legislation that may impact students and institutions of higher education (including FERPA, VAWA, Clery Act, Title IX, etc.).
  • Ability to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise and advise accordingly.
Departmental Preferences:
  • Master\'s Degree in higher education administration or its equivalence (Human Relations, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Conflict Resolution, etc.)
  • 2 years of experience, including one year of professional, post grad experience in Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Restorative Practices, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and/or Human Relations
  • Familiarity with electronic student conduct information management systems; Maxient
  • Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Student Life, and Residence Life
  • Outstanding communication skills demonstrated by the ability to interact comfortably with a wide range of diverse people, including professional staff, students, faculty, parents, system-wide colleagues, community partners, and media
  • Excellent organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to organize workflow, manage multiple tasks and functions simultaneously, balance numerous demands, and evaluate competing priorities and adjust planning as needed
Supervision:
  • Approximately 10 student employees
Advertised Physical Requirements:
  • Sit for long periods of time. Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry. Ability to engage in repetitive motions
  • Standard office environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
