This position may be located in Anchorage or Juneau, depending on the location of the selected applicant. Salaries for both locations are listed below.

Anchorage: $2,922.00 biweekly
Juneau: $3,068.25 biweekly

What You Will Be Doing
With supervisory support, the individual in this role is responsible for ensuring that Local Education Agencies (LEAs) receive the necessary state and federal funding. Additionally, they are tasked with review and evaluation of special education services for students with disabilities in Alaska, while adhering to compliance standards. The role also involves interpreting state and federal laws and regulations, and offering recommendations on special education policies and procedures. Another aspect of the position is monitoring school districts to ensure they comply with special education requirements. The position will provide valuable technical assistance and training to LEAs, covering fiscal and regulatory requirements, best practices, and program development. Lastly, they will prepare reports required for submissions to the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). This position is a full-time, year-round assignment.

Who We Are Looking For
Our ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision after completion of training.
  • The ability to balance projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently, occasionally flying on small, single engine aircraft, sometimes under poor weather and landing conditions, to areas where lodging may be limited, requiring one to sleep in a school facility.
PLEASE NOTE: As a condition of employment, this position requires the successful applicant to obtain and maintain an Alaska Initial, Professional, or Master Teacher Certification or Administrator Certification with an endorsement in Special Education OR a type C Special Services certificate with an endorsement in a related service area.
