Job Description

Education Requirements

• Bachelor\'s in Nursing required
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN strongly recommended, or completed within 3 years of taking position.

Certification & Licensures Requirements

• Registered Nurse in Mississippi
• Or Compact State Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
• CNOR certification required within the first year of acceptance of position

Experience/Qualifications/Skills

• 5 years of experience in Healthcare/Medical - Surgical Services Required
• Minimum of 5 years OR experience with at least 3 of those years in management role.
• Experience with modified block scheduling is preferred.
• BSN required, MSN a plus.

Language/Communication Skills

• English Required
• Multi-Lingual capabilities enhance the ability to perform this job. Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, management, and all outside individuals at all levels from elementary to professional.

Mathematical Skills

• Skill in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals without a calculator.
• Skill in adding and subtracting two digit numbers.
• Knowledge of the metric system units (length, area, volume, capacity, mass and weight) and U.S. equivalents.

Reasoning Ability

• Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Critical thinking and multitasking skills a must.
• Must have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.
• Must possess purposeful, self-regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based.
