Mental Health Outreach Director

Join our team! The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has an opportunity for a Mental Health Outreach Director to provide strategic mental health leadership for archdiocesan, parish and school initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Catholic Social Responsibility and is a member of the Central Office team.

This position is in-person at The Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center, located in St. Francis, is the main office for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The archdiocese covers 4,758 square miles in southeast Wisconsin and includes the following counties: Dodge, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha. Almost 200 parishes, over 100 Catholic schools, and 6 cemeteries are part of the archdiocese.



Directs and develops mental health outreach ministries and other pastoral ministries for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The Director will support parishes and schools by: 1) providing formation to leaders and supporting parishes in developing mental health, trauma response, substance abuse and other pastoral care ministries, 2) assisting individuals seeking therapy by providing referrals to local therapists, support groups and other resources, 3) training clergy, parish staff members, teachers and others about suicide prevention and other mental health issues, 4) serving parishes and schools as a first responder for disruptive events, and coordinating the archdiocesan response, 5) overseeing Bereavement Ministry, Ministry to the Separated and Divorced, Families with Special Needs, and other targeted groups in need of the Church\'s pastoral care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master\'s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensure as an LCSW, LPC or LMFT highly preferred.
  • Direct service experience working in a mental health field required.
  • Experience with teaching or public speaking preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic, in good standing and able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
Compensation and Benefits

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee provides a full-scope of employment benefits, including health and wellness, flex-time, Catholic school tuition assistance for children of employees, and a pension program. The position is a full-time, in-person salaried role at the Pastoral Center in St. Francis. Occasional weekend and evening assignments and occasional travel throughout the archdiocese are involved.
