Primary Function of Position:

The Director, Compliance & Ethics is responsible for growing, enhancing and maintaining our corporate compliance program. The role requires general familiarity with and understanding of the laws, rules and regulations applicable to healthcare companies, including as many as possible of the following: interactions with healthcare providers, anti-corruption, anti-kickback, false claims, physician payments, privacy and PHI, government contracting, interactions with patients, document management, competition and regulatory interactions. This role will collaborate with large teams consisting of business, finance, audit, legal and human resources colleagues in a matrixed environment to ensure full adherence to our global compliance and ethical obligations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting business goals and objectives while building and maintaining a strong culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization by, among other things, drafting, revising and implementing effective codes, policies, procedures and processes;
  • Developing, modifying and delivering regular live and virtual training to educate and test employees on a broad range of compliance and ethics topics;
  • Ensuring open and effective lines of communication and information reporting at all levels of the organization, including through the third-party reporting hotline;
  • Directing or supporting risk assessments, audit activities, third-party relationship management, M&A due diligence, internal investigations and remediation activities;
  • Monitoring and benchmarking the performance and effectiveness of compliance program execution on a continuing basis through development, collection and analysis of key metrics, reports and dashboards;
  • Collecting and analyzing targeted organizational data (including compensation structures, incentives and disincentives) to help identify, prioritize and address key risk areas;
  • Implementing and supervising an effective compliance monitoring, testing and review program;
  • Attending Compliance Committee meetings and contributing to setting the meeting agendas, reviewing presentations and recording and tracking action items; and
  • Proactively collaborating with Finance, Audit, Legal, HR and other functions in pursuit of a best-in-class, integrated compliance program.
Qualifications

Skills and Job Requirements:
  • Minimum BS/BA degree required (JD preferred).
  • Minimum eight years compliance experience, preferably at least partially in the medical device industry.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of applicable compliance and ethics requirements and compliance risk-management practices and methodologies, including risk assessment, monitoring and testing activities.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing training, education and communication processes and programs.
  • Experience with applicable laws and regulations such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, Sunshine Act, HIPAA, Sherman Antitrust Act and Federal Acquisition Regulations preferred.
  • Experience conducting compliance investigations and implementing remediation.
  • Ability to think strategically to resolve matters effectively and efficiently and to build collaborative relationships with senior management, business leaders, Audit, Legal and HR, while managing shifting priorities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Highly professional, considerate and motivated to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong writing, presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement cross-functional processes.
  • Some travel will be required.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.
