Job Details

Riverview Health is a multi-facility healthcare delivery system located in Hamilton County, Indiana. Founded in 1909, it was the first hospital in the County and is currently one of the largest employers with over 1,500 dedicated professionals. Riverview Health has grown considerably since 2018 to include an additional hospital, three free-standing ER/Urgent care facilities and the addition of several new specialty practices.

Riverview Health is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Clinical Informatics to join our dynamic team. As the Director of Clinical Informatics, you will play a crucial role in optimizing the use of our electronic health record (EHR) system, Epic, and other clinical information systems. Your expertise in nursing, informatics, or a related clinical field, combined with your in-depth knowledge of clinical processes, will enable you to lead the clinical informatics team and collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance patient care, streamline clinical workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Provide visionary leadership in the development and execution of clinical informatics strategies, aligning them with Riverview Health\'s overall mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to create and implement a long-term roadmap for clinical informatics initiatives.
  • Lead departmental personnel by appropriately recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing, and managing the performance of direct reports.
  • Develop and manage financial budgets to ensure effective and appropriate utilization of available resources while maintaining high-quality service.
Clinical System Management:
  • Oversee the utilization and optimization of the Epic EHR system to improve patient outcomes, efficiency, and safety.
  • Ensure that clinical information systems are maintained, updated, and integrated seamlessly across departments.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, collaborating with IT and vendor partners as needed.
Clinical Workflow Analysis and Optimization:
  • Lead the evaluation and enhancement of clinical workflows to improve efficiency and reduce clinical variability.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and standardization to enhance patient care and clinician experience.
Data Analytics and Reporting:
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools within the EHR system to extract meaningful insights for quality improvement and decision-making.
  • Generate reports and present data-driven recommendations to support evidence-based clinical practices.
Training and Education:
  • Develop and implement training programs for clinicians and staff on the effective and efficient use of clinical information systems.
  • Ensure ongoing education to keep the team and users up-to-date on system changes and best practices.
Regulatory Compliance and Patient Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines related to clinical informatics, patient privacy, and data security.
  • Collaborate with compliance and quality teams to implement strategies that enhance patient safety.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
  • Foster strong relationships with various departments, including IT, nursing, medical staff, and administration, to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and IT teams to ensure a seamless flow of information.
Job Requirements:

Education Requirements:
  • Minimum: Bachelor\'s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master\'s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field.
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum: Five (5) years leadership in a healthcare environment and two (2) years prior leadership experience in a clinical informatics role or related healthcare management position.
  • Preferred: Five (5) years healthcare informatics experience or a combination of practical healthcare experience and informatics experience
Prefer EPIC experience.

License/Certification Requirements:
  • EPIC certifications post hire to be defined.
