JOB SUMMARY:

The Perioperative Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) will provide leadership expertise in the research, selection, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of clinical information systems across the enterprise. The informatics leader serves as a liaison to providers, clinicians, department leaders, information technology and other internal and external customers across the organization. The Perioperative CIS will apply change management principles to maximize utilization and promote end user technology adoption with innovative IT projects, optimizations, and conversions. Process improvement using data analytics and performance measurement are an expectation of this role. The CIS will plan, initiate, and execute activities, actions and strategies that drive technology adoption promoting clinical excellence, exceptional quality outcomes and customer satisfaction across the enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in perioperative clinical workflow including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care.
  • Serves as a SME for inpatient and outpatient (ambulatory/clinic) care.
  • Collaborates with the project team to design and map clinical workflow in support of innovative technologies designed to improve care with the goal of seamless adoption.
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams in implementing technology using \xe2\x80\x9cbest practice\xe2\x80\x9d standards and within regulatory guidelines.
  • Develops relationships with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization.
  • Assists in the development of the training plan to ensure adoption will be achieved.
  • Uses data in the selection, implementation, optimization of technology.
  • Uses data to drive project outcomes including end user adoption.
  • Skilled at analyzing data for trends, opportunities, process improvement and goals met
  • Contributes to the support of clinical standards.
  • Documents standards by assisting with the creation of policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to achieve the desired goal and outcome.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in nursing, healthcare, informatics, or a related field
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in clinical informatics preferred
  • Active Registered Nurse License
  • 5 years of perioperative nursing experience
  • 3 years working as a perioperative clinical informatics nurse
  • In depth knowledge of perioperative workflows:
  • Scheduling
  • Assessment
  • Provider workflow
  • Documentation throughout the perioperative phases of care
  • Experience working in an acute care or outpatient environment
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
  • Familiarity with perioperative clinical information systems
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Proficient with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to promote the customer\xe2\x80\x99s experience
  • Experience with clinical informatics rounds to optimize systems and achieve outcomes
  • Ability to problem solve with good judgement and attentional to detail
  • Experience with using data to drive adoption and project outcomes
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Professional delivery with skilled business acumen to interact at all levels of the organization
  • Has attained prior healthcare experience with hospitals, surgery centers or physician offices
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Maintains regular attendance habits, follows directions, takes initiative
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to accomplish the task
  • Ability to manage frequent interruptions that result in having to re-evaluate priorities.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet the critical functions of the role (estimated up to 50%)
