The California Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program originally stood up in 2017 with recurrent programs in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, with the lightning fires that ignited across many Western states, the California program transitioned to a multi-state program known as the Western Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program. This multi-state program stood up again in 2021 and 2022. This position will be responsible for supporting the 2021 and 2022 programs.
The Deputy Director for Western Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Programs will report to the Director of Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Programs and is responsible for supporting the development and execution of overall program strategies, objectives and priorities. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of strategic thinking, problem solving and proactive collaboration with various stakeholders, internal and external. The Deputy Director will supervise assigned staff and liaise closely with Regional/Divisional leadership to ensure the long-term recovery strategy is in line with community needs, local recovery priorities and the Red Cross mission. This role works closely with Regional and National Headquarters volunteer and paid staff. Routine travel throughout the impacted areas will be required.
