Dynamis is seeking a Data Scientist to support Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in Northern, VA by bringing together theory and practice to identify and communicate data-driven insights that allow managers, stakeholders, and other executives in an organization to make more informed decisions on concepts of probability theory, statistical modeling, data visualization, predictive analytics, and risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze processes conducted by HSI personnel at their field offices and identify opportunities for process automation and/or data science tool development.
  • Provide Government with new capabilities related to data analytics, ingest, extraction collating, normalizing and processing.
  • Develop and Implement sound data governance policy within HSI to ensure and enforce information integrity.
  • Identify trends, detect high-risk areas for weapons proliferation and prioritize enforcement approaches by applying research and advanced analytics.
  • Design accurate and scalable prediction algorithms.
  • Work with other data analyst(s)/scientist(s)/system engineer(s)/software developer(s) as directed by the Government.
  • Deliver accurate, complete, and timely data to users across the organization.
  • Provide actionable insights for business improvements.
  • Work onsite at government facility in Crystal City, VA.
Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain DHS suitability (current ICE or DHS suitability is preferred)
  • Active Top Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited University in quantitative discipline such as computer science, data science, statistics, or mathematics.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in extract, transform and load (ETL) processes on data from open web, dark web, and websites hosted outside of the United States.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying advanced analytics in support of knowledge discovery/link analysis for law enforcement purposes.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in data ingestion, data sciences, integration, and fusion in response to new and expanding requirements.
  • Experience using statistical programming languages (i.e. Python, C, C+ +, Java, SQL).
  • Experience using data frameworks and visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Spark, Hadoop, Cassandra)
  • Proficient in the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
