Job Summary The Events & Communications Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing SHC - VC events and communications to raise awareness and promote the organization\xe2\x80\x99s brand in the community. The Specialist will work in collaboration with staff, volunteers and the community advisory board (CARB). Essential Functions The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. \xc2\xb7 Take a leadership role in the planning, implementation and project coordination for community events, photos, requests for collateral, giveaways and outreach. \xc2\xb7 Serve as point person for events, volunteer recruitment and coordination when needed, venue and vendor management, budget tracking, and event communications. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for logistics of all events, from start to finish, including generation of reports and work leading up to the event and day-of logistics, providing customer service at all events. This includes on-site event management as needed. \xc2\xb7 In collaboration with the Sr Director, develop and define the organization\xe2\x80\x99s communications goals, strategies, plans, and messaging to support brand awareness in the community. \xc2\xb7 Write and disseminate information as directed utilizing various communication tools and tactics available, including internal and external channels such as websites, email, social media platforms, events, press releases. \xc2\xb7 Community Advisory Relations Board (CARB) \xe2\x80\x93 act as a liaison to the CARB, including attending meetings and taking minutes, as well as assisting CARB members with events and special projects. \xc2\xb7 Apply strong project management, planning, interpersonal, and communication skills to all assigned duties. \xc2\xb7 Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Health Care \xe2\x80\x93 ValleyCare\xe2\x80\x99s patient experience and represents a framework for interactions with colleagues, patients, and other constituents. Job Qualifications Education Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree from an accredited college or university. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Experience \xc2\xb7 Five (5) or six (6) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. License/Certification \xc2\xb7 None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Business English, Associated Press style, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. \xc2\xb7 Microsoft Office proficiency, including in-depth knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrate high levels of written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. \xc2\xb7 Proactive and able to juggle multiple competing priorities. \xc2\xb7 Must be comfortable on the phone and email, with ability to communicate clearly and make effective and persuasive presentations to volunteers, staff, industry peers, donors, and others as required. \xc2\xb7 Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and accomplish tasks within prescribed timeframes. \xc2\xb7 Ability to communicate and interact effectively with others at all levels within and outside the organization. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work with sensitive and confidential materials. \xc2\xb7 Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations. \xc2\xb7 Ability to manage occasional ambiguity and make well-reasoned decisions based on the best available information. \xc2\xb7 Professional attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to think and act strategically. \xc2\xb7 General knowledge of health care and health system operations preferred. \xc2\xb7 Previous events and communications related experience preferred. \xc2\xb7 Must be able to attend and supervise events that the organization is hosting or participating in. \xc2\xb7 Previous work as volunteer or working with volunteers preferred. \xc2\xb7 Must function well as a member of a team.
