JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY LIASON / BOOKKEEPER TONGASS SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL

JOB PURPOSE: To work with and assist the principal with school activities.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities:

1. Greets and assists students, teachers, parents, and the general public.

2. Answers phone, takes messages, schedules appointments.

3. Maintains conference call lists, itinerant schedules, and all other schedules required by the principal.

4. Inventories, types requisition, sorts, and distributes bid supplies.

5. Sorts and distributes school supplies and orders.

6. Oversees staff appreciation and special events

7. Oversees equipment and handles operation and maintenance calls.

8. Types and distributes bulletins and handbooks for students and teachers.

9. Types, copies, newsletters, and correspondence to parents.

10. Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested by the principal.

11. Looks for and writes grants for TSAS

12. Maintains aspects of all school revolving and operating accounts using QuickBooks.

13. Maintains reports and runs and distributes reports as needed ( administration, budget, central office, grants, annual reports, surveys).

14. Inputs data and generates reports and forms for teachers as needed.

15. Phone parents to verify student absences as needed.

16. Issues passes, absence, tardy, and admission slips as needed.

17. Assists with discipline management as needed.

18. Assists with and/or coordinates various \xe2\x80\x9cothers\xe2\x80\x9d (school photographer, Kanayama, PTA, book fairs, field trip

buses, etc.).

19. Performs custodial duties as necessary.

20. Performs health care duties as needed. (Assisting sick children, notifying parents, providing parents with necessary forms)

21. Requires to maintain confidentiality ability.

22. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. 1-3 years experience in related areas preferred.

3. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

4. Ability to deal effectively with students, parents, and the general public.

5. Experience in basic office procedures, including filing, calculator, copier, computer, and applicable software (including Quickbooks, Excel., and Powerschool) is recommended. Additional training may be provided.

6. Knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting/banking is preferred.

7. Coursework/training in related areas is preferred.

8. Advanced training and degrees will be given priority.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff, and students.

Mathematical Skill: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Problem Solving: Can identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Must be able to work well in group problem-solving situations. Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

Student Service: Manages difficult or emotional situations in a positive manner. Responds promptly to student needs. Responds to requests for service and assistance and meet commitments.

Interpersonal Skills: Focuses on solving conflict and not blaming. Maintains confidentiality. Listens to others without interrupting. Keeps emotions under control, remains open to other ideas, and tries new things.

Other Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to operate computers and related software. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as reading handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
