Job Description


COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST The Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida is looking for a candidate that has a can-do-attitude, is tenacious, energetic, hardworking, innovative, resourceful, and creative to assist leadership in performance of the day-to-day communications activities for organization, development and execution of outreach campaigns and branding, oversee the design of all outreach and awareness materials, and develop and implement a communication strategy that includes website and social media content creation to assist in the promotion of organizational purpose, goals and mission to the general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of programs and projects to include but is not limited to:

  • Independent performance of the day-to-day communications activities for organization
  • Works on a broad range of projects, involving the development and execution of publications, printing, marketing campaigns, branding and public messaging
  • Oversees the design of all outreach and awareness materials, including but not limited to creating, designing, and updating outreach and informational content, (print, newsletters, newspapers, flyers, web, social media, etc.)
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the organization\xe2\x80\x99s strategy and in support of various departmental initiatives
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes website and social media content creation to assist in the promotion of organizational purpose, goals and mission to the general public and creating positive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Monitor the website to ensure content is current, and maintaining relationship with third-party contractor
  • Planning and scheduling with communications projects
  • Assist in writing and editing press releases
  • Assist with communication action plan
  • Assist and attend various events and activities
  • Assist with management of Constant Contact accounts and other approved off-the-shelf products used in communications.
  • Have current knowledge of the fundamentals of marketing research and public affairs as well as, strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Complete general tasks related to communications and community outreach, including working closely with the Community Relations and Development Specialist
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Arts/Science (BA/BS) degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Direct experience updating and maintaining website content using WordPress, GoDaddy, or other similar platform
  • Direct experience and proficiency using email management software
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills required
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Skilled in desktop publishing, including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photo Shop)
  • Three years of experience working in the nonprofit sector preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
Other Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and current automobile liability insurance policy.
  • The selected candidate will be required to submit and pass a local and national background screen and pre-employment drug screen prior to their date of hire.
