Summary: The Communications Specialist will assist with and coordinate PBS Western Reserve communication initiatives, helping to elevate and maintain the Company\xe2\x80\x99s reputation by delivering positive information to and encouraging engagement with viewers, members, partners, and the public. Essential Duties:
  • Assist with writing promotional, educational, and engaging content for PBS Western Reserve local productions and events, including web copy, press releases, member magazines, print and digital newsletters, podcasts, blogs, and online communities.
  • Establish, build, grow, and manage PBS Western Reserve online communities.
  • Proofread and edit station print and digital documents.
  • Provide support for the planning and execution of community and outreach events.
  • Maintain, retain, and dispose of corporation physical records to ensure compliance with NETO\xe2\x80\x99s Record Retention and Destruction Policy, including maintenance of archival records in the vault (production, membership, and accounting).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide front office support as needed.
  • Schedule, prepare materials, and take minutes at all staff and station team and community advisory council meetings.
  • Publish meeting agendas and minutes of Board and Committee meetings in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Assist the marketing and communications team with public relations, digital marketing, and communications content for broadcast, broadband, print applications, and outreach activities.
  • Responsible for set-up for board and station meetings, including ordering food, snacks, and beverages; serving; cleaning up; staging; and arranging conference calls and A/V needs.
  • Maintain all necessary program and visual image files, copied files for promotional announcements, etc.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, compelling copy appropriate for various mediums (social media, Web, blogs, newsletters, press releases).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in AP style guidelines.
  • Extremely organized with keen attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to prioritize, focus, multi-task, coordinate and meet deadlines under limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in English, Communications, or Public Relations.
