Job Description


Job Summary: Supervises the Center\'s Student Behavior Management and Incentives system, including zero tolerance for drugs and violence and incentives to promote positive behavior. Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Policy & Requirement Handbook requirements and company policies in regards student standards of conduct and behavior. Assists students in acquiring social maturity needed to gain employment and commence a career.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all PRH and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
  • This is a supervisory management position. This position may serve on a rotating basis as the senior weekend duty officer, which entails being on call by phone, reporting to the Center in an emergency, and briefing management on events over the weekend.
  • Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Employee provides, and ensures staff assigned to their supervision provide, services that meet the needs of students in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
  • Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
  • Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
  • Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with company, state and federal standards. Conducts quarterly property counts for assigned office spaces, submits property relocation requests as needed. Submits maintenance requests as needed.
  • Supervises assigned staff, reviews and approves requests for time off, and may be required to arrange substitute staff coverage. Reviews for accuracy and approves assigned staff timesheets.
  • Conducts interviews of perspective new employees and makes recommendations for, or against hire, based on staff qualifications and experience, and in compliance with state and federal laws, and company policy.
  • Conducts formal performance evaluations for staff under supervision in a timely manner and provides regular and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Responsible for the performance management of all employees under supervision including issuing Behavior Modification Agreements in conjunction with Human Resources and following the chain of command in accordance with CSD\'s code of staff conduct.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned staff under supervision maintain an orderly, safe, clean and healthy living environment within areas of responsibility.
  • Assists in preparing staff schedule and weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as assigned.

  • May be assigned to supervise an activity, a special event (either on or off center), or in other program areas as assigned on a temporary, periodic, or regular basis.
  • Responsible for initiating and review student records and files, enter case notes, complete forms and reports accurately, and to ensure they are complete, timely, and in compliance with PRH and company polices.
  • Reviews all behavioral reports for consistency and conformity to the rules, deciding which level of the center\'s Behavior Management System should deal with each problem.
  • Administers sanctions directly for specified disciplinary infractions as per the sanctions schedule in the approved behavior modification guide.
  • Reviews behavior infraction for violation of the ZT policy, charges students with Fact Finding Boards (FFB), ensures FFB are conducted timely and that the center remains in compliant with the PRH and Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Responsible for developing and submitting initial, supplemental, and final Significant Incident Reports (SIR) in compliance with the PRH and within required timeframes.
  • Makes formal presentation in CPP Program to students to ensure that students learn the ZT policy, center rules and regulations, the Center\'s discipline system, the consequences for rule infractions, and incentives that they can earn.
  • Participates or provides input in 30-day probationary period evaluation.
  • Responsible for in-service training of all staff members with respect to their roles in total behavior management system.
  • Monitors all class attendance reports and coordinates all disciplinary action deemed necessary because of excessive class absenteeism and unauthorized absences.
  • Prepares all statistical reports necessary in compiling the Monthly Management Report and other statistics concerning disciplinary activities.
  • Ensures that the disciplinary process is properly recorded and documented, and that Job Corps policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Ensures that all infractions are addressed in a timely manner and that all sanction dispositions are fully recorded in CIS.
  • Ensures that appropriate staff receive feedback on incidents of student misbehavior.
  • Maintains a complete file of all students disciplinary records.
  • May be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the student disciplinary council (CDC) to include training of board members, supervision of elections, etc.
  • Attends required staff training sessions.
  • Facilitates and supports the Student Government Association.
  • May facilitates the Student Government Association rules committee.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum: Bachelor\'s degree in social science or work-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year\'s experience in law enforcement, probation, law enforcement, disciplinary or youth counseling capacity. Model company Core Values.

Preferred: Minimum + Job Corps experience. Master\'s degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice, or a closely related field.

Knowledge: Knowledge of disciplinary and behavior management techniques. Must obtain a valid State driver\'s license. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification. Ability to effectively relate to student population.
