Job Description



Position Summary: The Category Manager is responsible for building the size and value of our customers\xe2\x80\x99 beverage business as beverage consultants, delivering key insights and solutions to better meet the needs of evolving shoppers.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Category Strategy - Influence and guide retailers\xe2\x80\x99 beverage strategies through:
    • Building strong and effective relationships with key internal and external customers.
    • Identifying key business opportunities through collaborative business planning.
    • Identifying relevant insights, leveraging industry knowledge to advance the Non-Alcoholic Ready-To-Drink Beverage category strategy and solutions.
  • Space and Assortment:
    • Partners with key internal customers and retailers to build an effective space and assortment strategy.
    • Viewed by retailers as a subject matter expert in space & assortment.
    • Leverage retailer relationship to gain fair share or more space.
  • Feature Performance and Pricing:
    • Leverage a deep understanding of how retail customers make money to develop category pricing solutions.
    • Strategically advise retail customers and support the development of pricing solutions at retail.
    • Use data and insights to identify gaps & opportunities in feature and retail pricing execution.
  • Merchandising Solutions:
    • Partner with internal teams to connect retail merchandising strategy to consumer purchase behavior.
    • Develop break through merchandising solutions.
    • Strategically advise retailers on category merchandising solutions that benefit shoppers.
  • Lead and deploy training, communication and change management to imbed Category Management disciplines across business teams/functions.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business related discipline and 7 plus years of years of experience in consumer package goods industry or High School Diploma/GED and 10 plus years of experience in consumer package good industry.
  • Customer experience across multiple channels i.e., Grocery, Mass-market Retailers. Convenience stores, etc.
  • Field leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in the following areas: Category/Space Management, Shopper Insights.
  • Proven ability to mine and synthesize data to identify key insights, inform strategy & make actionable solution recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills detailing deliverables, responsibility, timing and key milestones.
  • Creative problem solver that develops collaborative solutions with retailers and internal customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable building successful relationships.
  • Ability to build & deliver effective presentations incorporating customer viewpoints and strategies.
  • Ability to flex style to meet the needs of audiences, anticipate outcomes and deliver effectively.
  • Travel \xe2\x80\x93 20%
  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree
  • Ability to link category leadership strategies to customer strategies
  • Advanced analytical capability combining retail, consumer and shopper insights.
  • Strong presentation skills in front of customers and internal teams.
  • Capable of creating insights from structured and non-structured data/information sources.
  • Extensive experience with syndicated and non-syndicated data providers (e.g., Nielsen, IRI - Information Resources, Incorporated).
  • High aptitude with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Space Planning.
  • Demonstrated reputation for customer engagement with ability to positively drive mutual business results.
  • Analytics experience \xe2\x80\x93 ability to draw insights and actions from data.
  • Planning experience \xe2\x80\x93 strategic thinking, forward looking, time cognizant.
  • Proven track record for delivering sustainable results.
  • Drives organizational performance, efficiency, and effectiveness by translating analytics into actions and results.
