Overview: As a member of the Feedlot Management team, the Calf Manager is involved in the overall operations and development of calf programs, facilities, and equipment. Involved in developing protocols and activities in regard to the care and feeding of calves. Will develop relationships within the calf supply chain. The Calf Manager will work with breeders to maximize pregnancy rate and work with feeders to ensure effective feeding procedures for proper daily gain and to meet growth stature goals. Involved in and manage personnel activities within feeding, movement, and doctoring. Will compile, analyze, track specifications and performance records. May also participate in the planning and execution of various operational expansion projects. Qualifications:
- Five plus years dairy and livestock experience with extensive experience working with calves, strong feeding and animal health knowledge as well as cattle management practices.
- Management or senior experience in calf ranch and feedlot production operations.
- Ability to work as a part of the management team and oversee multiple employees.
- Computer skills including excel, word, etc. and willingness to learn proprietary cattle management software.
- Perform tasks efficiently and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Be able to lift 50 pounds; to walk or stand for long periods of time. Have sufficient mobility to get in and out of pens.
- Ability to be flexible in various working conditions such as in adverse/outdoor conditions as well as within the office environment.
