Job Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Residential Student Experience is responsible for coordinating department of housing efforts to promote student engagement programs, student well-being initiatives, and student staff selection. The Associate Director works collaboratively with academic, department, and division colleagues towards the creation and implementation of environments that intentionally foster and enhance the learning, development and academic success of residential students. Facilitates an engaging, inclusive, student environment consisting of 28 Residence Halls and over 8,000 undergraduate and graduate residents. The Associate Director supervises three Assistant Directors and is responsible for half of the buildings on campus. The Associate Director is supervised by the Director of Residence Life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Residence Life Programs
  • Identify opportunities to develop new communities with specific academic focus or theme.
  • Integrate residential experience with learning process and living and learning communities
  • Representative on the University CARE Team and Case Management Team
  • Emergency Response and On-Call duty
  • Communicate Student/parent/family concerns
The successful candidate should possess the following -
  • Knowledge of the University\'s student policies and procedures and those related to assigned department
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to student and staff learning and development
  • Facilitate communication between students. Identify, react and manage crisis situations, especially mental health crisis
  • Demonstrated Leadership experience in Residence Life

Compensation is dependent upon experience and education.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Master\'s degree in Student Services or related field and 6 years of experience in academic advising, education, residence hall administration, or a related field; or bachelor\'s degree and 8 years of experience in academic advising, education, residence hall administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

A doctorate, earned or in progress, is preferred. Direct experience with the establishment and/or coordination of living/learning communities is highly desired.
Valid Driver\'s License Preferred
