The Mount Access Program (MAP) is designed for students who show potential and motivation to succeed in college, but have high school records below normal admission requirements. MAP combines academic support with community enrichment to enhance students\xe2\x80\x99 ability to succeed in college. MAP students pursue all academic majors offered by the college, and have continued on into graduate school and have entered professions such as accounting, education, and nursing. The goal of MAP is to retain and graduate promising students who will succeed at the college level and beyond.

The MAP director is responsible for providing leadership to MAP and for the management of all related MAP activities. These activities include but are not limited to: on-site management of MAP; management of the budget; planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services; the hiring and supervision of staff; coordination of internal and external partnerships; MAP student recruitment, admissions and financial aid processes including student eligibility determination; data collection and reporting; and public relations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and supervise a summer transition program
  • Administer support services program
  • Work with faculty to develop English 100 (a transitional English course)
  • Teach First Year Experience section for 1 credit
  • Organize data and prepare for multiple reports throughout the year
  • Develop yearly operating budget and track account payables and receivables
  • Serve on administrative committees within the College
  • Work in close conjunction with the Senior Director for Academic Student Support and the Dean of the Undergraduate College to ensure accurate and efficient program evaluation and expansion
  • Develop program and educational activities to meet the continually changing needs of students
  • Develop and maintain academic student profiles and counseling reports, including preliminary diagnostic assessments, goal-setting, academic progress reports and service referrals
  • Act as supervisory staff in the provision of individual and group counseling to students on academic, cultural, and personal issues
  • Other duties are as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master Degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or a related field is preferred
  • Two (2) to five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in higher education
  • Experience with post-secondary education and working with high-risk students
  • Experience managing a budget and monitoring expenditures
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • Must be available for evening and weekend activities
