Organization Description: Friendship House of Christian Service is a Faith Based Community Development Agency located in the heart of the Billings\xe2\x80\x99 \xe2\x80\x9cSouth Side\xe2\x80\x9d neighborhood. Since 1957, we have served as a family and community resource center dedicated to improving the spiritual, social, emotional and economic conditions of the South Side by providing services and opportunities for children, youth, teens, adults, and families. Our primary focus is building a healthy community based on holistic family programming. We accomplish this goal by providing the following wrap around service programming: Preschool; Youth Afterschool & Summer Enrichment; Teen Programs; Adult Life Skills & Education; Child, Adult and Family Counseling. JOB SUMMARY: The Teen Coordinator is responsible for the growth and development of the day-to-day operations of an expanding teenage community at Friendship House. The Coordinator will be responsible for the effective delivery of a broad range of activities and programs geared specifically for teens in the areas of: Education and Career Development, Job Skills Training, Leadership and Spiritual Development, Health and Life Skills, Sports, Fitness, and Recreation.   • Build strong, positive relationships with teens and families to provide the best services and opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support as a positive role model.
  • Mentor incoming teens, 5th and 6th graders within Friendship House.
  • Provide outreach to area schools, churches, community groups and local agencies to boost involvement of teens and families.
  • Provide life skills, job training, and work opportunities through the Food Trailer.
  • Oversee and maintain the vegetable gardens.
  • Provide clear, concise details and communication to parents and guardians re: schedules, issues, etc.
  • Actively recruit volunteers, musicians, coaches, etc. to assist with Teen Programming.
  • Act as liaison between Friendship House and teens, volunteers, school principals, teachers, parents, and other concerned parties to ensure continuity of service for all teens.
  • Be on duty and on-site during Teen Program hours.
Programming
  • Manage and maintain the teen database.
  • Complete necessary reports, sign in/out sheets, waivers and maintain records.
  • Ensure that the implementation and reporting requirements for grants and contracts are met.
  • Document incident and accident reports when needed.
  • Oversee all Teen Program volunteers and set volunteer and teen work schedules.
  • Provide a monthly calendar for community, volunteers, staff, teens, and parents with activities.
  • Establish Teen Center, Open Gym, and Food Trailer objectives that are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Maintain and create programs that engage teens socially, culturally, and intellectually and that reflect the diversity of the community.
  • Support and maintain programs that focus on service, leadership, and education.
  • Provide life skills, job training, and work opportunities for teens through Food Trailer program.
  • Develop and participate in special events that involve teens, area community, and partner agencies.
  • Communicate with Development Department to increase visibility of the Teen Program.
  • Communicate with schools and other community agencies to build partnering within the community.
  • Work with staff to provide a physically and emotionally safe place for all youth participants.
Safety
  • Supervise and correct teens as needed within the program.
  • Provide safe, alternative behavior modifications to disruptive teens.
  • Communicate with parents concerning issues on behaviors and/or other issues in the program areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of program areas and Food Trailer.
  • Maintain and monitor materials, equipment, and other resources being utilized by the program.
  • Be responsible for overseeing building, staff, closing procedures and supervision during activities outside of normal childcare operations.
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in education, social work, ministry, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience mentoring youth.
  • Completion of Food Manager certification.
  • Must have satisfactory background check from the Montana Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and ability to be covered under Friendship House\xe2\x80\x99s insurance.
  • Display an ability to manage youth behaviors and possess good conflict resolution skills.
