Job Responsibilities

About Midlands Regional Center

Midlands Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Columbia, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, instructs and supervises Consumers in the vocational training programs based on individual needs. Offer guidance to Direct Support Professionals in the care, and training of individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs.

Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group setting to include leisure, vocational, pre vocational, and daily living skills. Supervises Consumers by providing active treatment in all areas based on assessed needs, and personal choice.

Completes assessments, implements programs based on assessed needs. Ensures assessments and programs are submitted in an accurate and timely manner. Monitors programs for progress or lack of, and makes changes as needed.

Ensures a safe/clean environment for the consumers.

Completes all documentation to include but not limited to data on objectives, attendance reports, individual and weekly payroll reports.

Provides training in self help skills to consumers and serve as coverage staff in the residential units.

Provides direct hands on individual care to all consumers as needed. Participates in training and provides guidance to consumers in the development of activities of daily living skills. Monitors and transports consumers to and from programs, activities and off-campus appointments/trips.

Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and related experience. A bachelor\'s degree may substitute for the required experience. Must possess a valid SC Driver\'s License.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation

Preferred Qualifications

A high school diploma and one year (1) year of experience in direct support of persons with intellectual and related disabilities. A bachelor\'s degree may substitute for the required experience.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State\'s Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
