THE OPPORTUNITY


The Vice President of Content Strategy is a key member of the Scholastic Education Solutions Platform team and will lead the digital content strategy for a portfolio of products designed to support children and educators on their blended print/digital literacy journey.


In this highly collaborative role, the VP of Content Strategy works closely with senior leaders in Product Development, Production, Editorial, Engineering, and UX to form the future vision of content development in support of world-class digital experience that seamlessly complement Scholastic\xe2\x80\x99s renowned and beloved print products.


RESPONSIBILITIES


This leader:


  • Defines, establishes and operationalizes the digital content strategy for the Scholastic Literacy platform

  • Owns and is ultimately responsible for delivery of content management and metadata tools that support digital product development under ambitious timelines

  • Acts as overseeing product manager for all content related SCRUM teams that develop and support content factories and pipelines, metadata tools, eReader application, search & discovery capabilities; ensures priorities are in direct support of content strategy

  • Has budget responsibility for content management and metadata tools

  • Partners closely with print production to define content workflows and systems that enable efficient and innovative content reuse in the digital Literacy platform

  • Collaborates closely with P&L leadership to develop an intriguing and innovative digital content strategy for their respective areas

  • Partners effectively with engineering to help define and actively support the overarching digital platform strategy

  • Functionally manages all product owners and metadata specialists involved in the content lifecycle area, sets and monitors progress against individualized goals

  • Defines, builds tooling and operationalizes Scholastic\xe2\x80\x99s metadata practice that enables a first-class search experience, data analytics and reporting

  • Partners closely with Literacy Platform product management, UX and engineering leadership to deliver innovative digital products to market in time and on budget

  • Champions digital reading and learning experiences that leverage the latest technologies to present Scholastic\xe2\x80\x99s award-winning content in innovative ways digitally

Qualifications
HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)


Core capabilities:

  • A minimum of 10 years leadership in roles of increased responsibility in Education technology organizations with strong product cultures and recognized instructional design practices

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in management and talent development

  • Proven change agent with a track record of successfully renovating and re-envisioning internal content workflows, preferably in the education publishing industry

  • Expert-level knowledge of taxonomies, education-industry metadata standards, instructional design best practices, print production processes

  • Deep understanding of Accessibility standards like WCAG and current knowledge of requirements by states and school districts

  • Accomplished product manager with successful track record of working with engineering, UX, business stakeholders to build tool sets in support of digital content development

  • Demonstrated experience envisioning and building digital instructional solutions

  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to build business cases to support product investments and closely adhere to established budgets

  • Expert ability to navigate matrixed organizational structures, negotiate buy-in across diverse groups of stakeholders and diplomatically challenge the status quo while building strong collaborative relationships

  • Proven experience planning and executing long-term strategies that drive print-to-digital content workflows

  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative approach to problem solving, ability to function with a high degree of autonomy



Additional Qualifications:

  • Specialized knowledge of education technology and publishing standards, literacy instruction and assessment, technology trends, user experience, and classroom needs

  • Ability to foster team collaboration, creativity and innovation

  • Passion for Scholastic mission and creating appealing digital product brands for teachers, administrators, and parents.
